Default Full sprays vs Half sprays

    Hello everyone,

So I'm new to basenotes and the fragrance game, got a couple of frags here and there. My question is, when people are talking about number of sprays, do they mean full, trigger all the way down sprays? cuz for me, i tend to use half sprays to areas (for instance the neck) because I seem to be very inaccurate with the sprayer....Thanks for the help!

No, people on the forum divide the number of FULL sprays they use by two and post that number so they won't be embarrassed by how many sprays they use

Personally never even considered a half spray.

Do perfume bottles even do that? It's not something I've noticed!

Me, neither. I like a good, long spray and am irritated by those nozzles which produce a tiny spritz. The problem for me is getting enough fragrance rather than too much.

    ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ These. And a little offtopic -- Creed gives full spray a new meaning.

The only bottles you can easily do half sprays on are Dior. They have the best atomizers.

Depends on the frag, I use something like 6 full sprays of Bois d'Encens but for Bois d'Orage I use 3, one on my chest and 4 1/2 sprays on my wrists and neck, otherwise I blow people out of the room!

I mean, how would one even get a half?

I think its impossible to flex your finger muscles half way to get a half a spray. From an anatomy perspective its just impossible.

most of the atomisers are designed to give full spray, if you try to do a half spray, some of the juices will tend to leak a little bit from the nozzle after you try half spray

life's too short to go half spray anyway

Check out L'Occitane's atomisers! I think they're even thirstier than Creed's.

No danger of getting a small spritz from any of those.

Most likely, it means full sprays. I personally have gotten half sprays only when the spraying movement was done too hasty, too fleetingly, but mostly I focus on applying full sprays of scent.

Um, Hedonist dude, I know your hands are a little crude, after all you're not able to do less than 15 sprays at a time, but if you press down just a little, you can get a half spray. It is certainly physically possible. Sometimes I do this, but rarely. The problem is, it's hard to gauge if you're getting 20%, 50%, 80% etc. of a spray.

Any time I've tried half a spray it leads to a drizzle on my skin and a dribble down the bottle.

I use this so called half spray on all my frags, even the Creeds.

    It works just fine.

I agree the Dior Homme line has the perfect sprayer for half sprays, but I can do a half spray with all the 150+ frags in my collection.

Some times I get maybe 30-40% spray, sometimes 50-60% spray, but I use their half spray when I apply to my neck area, to be more precise with the spray and to avoid getting a cloud of fragrance in my face.

By using half a press on the sprayer, the stuff that comes out is more fluid like and less dusty. I prefer that when applying around my neck and head region.
Also handy when I apply to my elbow and arm area.

I use full sprays when applying to my chest and body.

The "half" or rather partial sprays are easy to spray with most sprayers - it's just that it's not worth it. Most scents smell better if sprayed full sprays and preferably from min. 20-30 cm distance. That way the individual notes of the scent come into their own better.

So you believe the notes in the fragrance only come out when you do a full spray

Why would you think that you only get the full composition of the fragrance when you spray it and not half spray it ?

The fragrance composition and notes are completely blended together, whether you use 1 ml or 0.1 ml......

Sorry, but this is nonsens. This means that if you get a sample and dab some on your skin from the sample, you would not get the full compositionmofmthe fragrance - tell this to Lucky Scent and all the other places that sell you samples that you dab on and not spray.......

Sorry, but this idea is bullocks - I respect your opinion, but I disagree and logic tells me you're wrong too :-)

Agree. I love that with Dior Homme and flankers allow you to spray exactly how much you want each time.
