While L. is drinking something I can't pronounce (and JR and Dr.G are eating the same -- on another forum), we are on the second pot here, Maxwell House French Roast. Will be off today, will go to a big city and, among other things, will check TJMaxx. And Big Lots. One never knows, as usual. Even Polish fruit jams will please us, I think (and you: L., JR and G. will try to pronounce their names, deal?).

We have had a light dusting of snow, but the big stuff is expected tomorrow since the synoptics changed it. Somehow I am craving a fig fragrance. Have to settle for something non-figgy, Hermes Rouge, though.

TWolf, I can't ever quite figure out the menu at the coffee place, but at the Starbucks by my house they put a live person out in the line to take your order if you go through the drive-through window. I think of him as a translator. It is the best idea ever; there is no other place - No Place - that I ever use a drive through window. Ever. I park and walk in, always, with this one exception because they have the smoothest, most functional drive-through on the planet. And a very small parking lot that is perpetually full.

iivanita, that's a shocking difference isn't it? Even though Samsara always was a blend of real and synthetic sandalwood, the removal of the real thing makes current Samsara a whole different beast. Yes, synthetic and loud in the modern version to my nose, too. Not so with my vintage parfum, as you said it's just feminine and lovely. So glad you got hold of some vintage to try!

I'm in No.22 today, vintage EDC. Hugs to everyone!

Got an early start with grocery shopping and baking before the plumber and his son arrived to replace a length of old, leaking copper pipe in the basement. They're still at it down there.

I've only now applied scent for the day, and it's Encens et Lavande from a small decant. I like it so far.

    Afternoon, all!

Another beautiful sunny day here, with even a tiny bit of warmth, although it's set to get cold & grey again later in the week.
Made the most of it this morning with VC&A Gardenia Petale, from my decant. l saved this one for summer last year, but l think it works much better in spring, when its sweet creaminess does not become too cloying.
Planning to sample Mona di Orio Cuir this evening.

    Q, you smell fab!

And mine's a skinny latte with a shot of cinnamon, please.

Wearing a side by side of vintage 80s and 2007 Diorella's. The opening's are similar but the dry down's? The 2007 version has no depth, yes there is oakmoss but on the nose far less than in the 80's version. I thought 2007 predated IFRA?

Sampling again this evening with Creed Royal Oud.

I had cautious optimism for this with it being a lighter interpretation, but alas no. Not only does it confirm my hypersensitivity to the stuff, it also rubber stamps my dislike. This is such a smooth composition - without the oud it would be a delight, though that would rather defeat the purpose . I'll let this run it's course but remain steadfastly oudphobic . Oh well, nothing ventured ....

Nothing exciting here either... sampling Juozas Statkevicius tonight. It's been suggested to me when asking for an incense-vanilla combo. All I get is a dusty patchouli (the L'Ombre Fauve kind) and a nice incense note. Very one-dimensional and linear, not very exciting! It is snowing outside... please fast forward to end of March 15 degrees C springtime weather!

It's Meals on Wheels delivery day for me, so I was up & out early. Starbucks French roast beans made at home with cream & a touch of honey.

Good news on the job front, I will be full time within the next few months. Their vote of confidence humbles me!

Scent wise, Tom Ford Amber Absolute (from a decant). We're still cold here, so I want to enjoy my heavy orientals a while longer.

I agree wholeheartedly, I've had enough of winter. It's cold and windy today, but at least it's not snowing anymore. Tonight it's going to be down to 25 below zero again. I know we have another month of winter but I'd sure be happy if it could warm up a little. It's actually very beautiful outside with all the snow we received yesterday.

    Congrats, RHM!!

No coffee or tea this morning, but you've all made it sound very delicious.

Hello everyone. Talking of kittens ... having trouble typing since one of the cats has fallen asleep on my right arm, pinning it to the keypad of the laptop. He weighs a ton - definitely not a kitten anymore...

Please don't remind me how great Samsara was. I bought a bottle when it first came out and then threw it away half-full a couple of years later when I entered my fragrance wilderness period. What was I thinking!

Anyways, today's scent of choice is La Petite Robe Noire edt from a sample courtesy of Boots. Fresher, sharper and greener than the edp, and without the initial artificial cherry-candy blast of the original - cherry is much more muted. Nice, very spring-like, puts me in mind of a tamer Angel Innocent.

    hello PerfumedLady,
hehe yes.....the differences are huge....or to say the same as the difference from vintage Shalimar to the new Shalimar plus 30% more ...Shalimar at least retained the same calibre of the gun....lol...the new version is just huuuuge huge huge sillage monster....so synthetic (but not much more then lets say some Amouages nowdays).....i would like this vintage one is monster of that kind, but no its so much more natural, and close to skin scent after 4-5 hours for sure..if there was synthetic sandalwood in this vintage version it doesnt give itself off.....and it makes sense...natural jasmine and natural sandalwood are not loud

i loved the new version but at some point but i got sick....and had to wash it...the drydown i could smell the next day on the clothes it is 5-8 times stronger then vintage! or longer lasting....

tonite something 180 degrees different Tribute.........hmmmm it is so rich deep tobaco-leather-fruity scent....with base of Homage....and this is loud one! i think i put too much, one big drop ....sillage monster !

    Evangeline sooooooooo cute hehe
