Thread: SotD: 1st March 2013
La Fille de Berlin from a sample I grabbed last night. I'm finding the initial spiciness recedes sooner than I'd like, but let's see how it goes for the rest of the day.
Had a fab time yesterday evening sniffing a bazillion rose scents. In particular, I enjoyed comparing a rose centifolia absolute and a rose otto (damascena). Even if the straight otto is far less recognisable as a rose, I much prefer its depth.
Have wonderful Friday, gang.

Sounds great, G.! Glad you had a good time.
TGIF! I still have that ***** sore throat and cough, but feel a slight improvement today.
Jicky Extrait. At least I can smell!
Congratulations tdem, well done!
Best to all
Cristalle for work today.
Good morning all !. Well and truly in synch today (frag with a ridiculous name) with Bella Bellissima Perfect Man Alternative. The mind boggles, but I'll keep it clean for the ladies
Larimar, glad to hear you are improving - maybe a glass of something later will help (purely medicinal, of course )

Trying a sample of La Tulipe by Byredo today; it smells like spring!
Have a great Friday & a great month, everyone!

Thank you, Larimar and all other dear BNers for all the good wishes. Larimar I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.
Gandhajala that sounds like a beautiful time.
Quarry, I was offered a position at my former place of employment, same capacity (secretarial) but in a different department. I'd been laid off due to city and state budget cuts. I'm guessing the purse strings loosened up again.
SOTD is Shalimar parfum for my first day on the job. Gotta start them off right.
Happy Friday, all.

Hello all. Gobin Daude Biche Dans l'Absinthe.
Hoorah! Well done Lucas.
Smelling roses G. Sounds like heaven.
Monegal Kiss my Name today, for the synch. Jon, I think that you just may have the winner there!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Congratulations, Lucasai, and I am glad you are feeling better. Usually things are easier the second time round
She-Wolf today. The oil not the spray. That is two wolves in a row. And I suppose I am in synch, it's a pretty silly name. It is vanilla and that incredibly compelling smell bent 'dirty musk'.
I don't have any, but the most ridiculous name of a mass market perfume that I did manage to sell because it smelled good was Avon's "Derek Jeter Driven Black". Not sure how that one made it past the review. My favorite ridiculous smell names come from the ZOMG girls though..."Edison vs Tesla DEATHMATCH!" is one of their recent releases.
Congrats Lucas !
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Poor Larimar! Hope your symptoms disappear soon!
Go get 'em tdem! Congratulations!
Congrats and well done, Lucas!
Not surprised you preferred the damascena, G.. I'd have guessed it as more "you"!
In Esteban's Modern Chypre today. Happy Friday, all!
The nose wants what it wants!
Moving Day went by smoothly yesterday, except for a few (very minor) mishaps. I'm still unpacking and getting used to my new 'home'. Thank you all for the kind words on the boards and via PM. I really appreciate it.
Here's a photo of the front of my building:

The Smell of Freedom by Lush
You gotta love those kooky titles for the Lush scents. This one, strangely, reminds me of Lauder's Private Collection just a bit less floral and potent. This is **totally** not my type of scent.
JonRodgers - your SOTD's title cracks me up. I want the alternative to the perfect man? Maybe they mean a perfect man who likes Alternative music. LOL
TGIF! And it’s the first day of March, yay! Spring will soon be here.
I hope you feel better soon, Larimar.
And congratulations to Lucas, too! What a relief!
Mike, I’m glad there were no major mishaps during your move. I love the look of your building. It makes me miss Florida. I wish you much happiness in your new abode.
I’m sampling vintage Nuit de Nöel parfum today. Oh, oh, oh!!! I’m in LOVE.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Hello everyone -
I'm in Estée Lauder Private Collection this morning, vintage "parfum cologne" spray.
Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan
Oh, fun synch day I am sort of in synch, but not really. Chanel 31 rue Cambon for me today, and I am totally fine with the name, but possibly a bit silly.
Mike, I love the look of your building! I hope you settle in and it starts to feel like home.
Jon, does your fragrance have a plastic note? Ha!!! Somebody had to say it
TGIF to everyone, and especially hoping Larimar is on the mend and can participate in Vino sampling this evening.
Sotd, not in sync with Daisy. From the black bottle. Seems a bit sharper and muskier than the original Daisy...and a bit more on the creamy white floral. Not sure if I like that! Different from the original Daisy.
Mike, FL looks nice and so does your new place!
Lol, hard for me to think of a fume or sample that I have that may have a ridiculous name. I got one sample I think. What always kinda cracks me up is Givenchy Ange Ou Demon Le Secret Elixir. Angel or Demon The Secret Potion? It just seems a bit silly and long? Lol.
What I've Been Wearing:
Congratulations to tdem and lucasai! Big hugs to you both!
Larimar, I hope you feel better -- and hope you can take it easy this weekend to mend. You don't want to come down with something worse
G, it sounds like the meet-up was a lot of fun. I'd like to attend one here in the States sometime.
Mike, I'm glad you're moved in -- now, to settle in and make it uniquely yours
Jon, I think you win for silly names today.
It would have been oh-so-easy to choose an ELdO fragrance for today's synch -- but I felt like vanilla today. I managed to satisfy both my vanilla craving and the synch with Parfumerie Generale Felanilla. Listed notes are vanilla absolute, saffron, orris, banana wood, hay absolute, amber. Really enjoy the fragrance, but the name is cringe-worthy.

Today in La Pausa Chanel
Get well soon, Larimar!
Congrats to Lucasai and Tdem.

Thank you all for your wishes and thoughts... coughing but drinking wine, so not dead yet.
Spritzed Jicky again. Plenty of.
Well done, Mike!
This is the 3rd post I've written, the other 2 disappeared into thin air. Has anyone
else had trouble here today?
Hope you feel better soon, Larimar.
