I'm with Hedonist on Cuir d'Iris and Felanilla. Yes - if you love leather and iris, CdI should be easy to love for you.

Felanilla is a big, gourmandish vanilla, but with a smooth, rooty iris note. A very interesting and unique take on a vanilla. It's supposed to have a banana note, but it's not a sweet, overripe banana - its more like a green, vegetal banana.

Those are the only two that have won me over so far, but I have yet to try many of them.

Louanges Profanes - quite unique imho, an incense that never goes 'churchy'
Cadjmere - a very modern balanced oriental
Brulure de Rose - a yummy chocolate rose and Djhennè - a musky sunkissed hay and lavender with cocoa to keep it 'grounded'

Oooh, one of my favourite houses. I couldn't name just three favourites, but I would say that three of the ones I enjoy most are:

Querelle: one of the most masculine perfumes I have, it has a fougère vibe although it is more of a chypre.
Louanges Profanes: incense, florals and resins form a masterful blend of something gourmand and really addictive.
Tubereuse Couture: a close relative of Tubereuse Criminelle, this one replaces the root beer with tuberose candy. It is sweet and uplifting, a real pleasure.

I also love L'Ombre Fauve, Cedre Sandaraque, Coprs et Âmes, Cadjmeré, Drama Nuuï, Praliné de Santal, Un Crime Exotique and Intrigant Patchouli.

My favorites from Guilaume are these three:
    L'Ombre Fauve
    Intrigat Patchouli
    Aomassai

I know he is known better for his gourmand fragrances, but I prefer when he works on the woody oriental theme

Fluffing an old thread - Bloom Perfumery has just moved much closer to my commuting station so I'm planning to explore the PG line.

What do you recommend? I've tried and like Felanilla and Praline de Santal and Papyrus de Ciane are definitely on my test list. Probably Aomassai too.

I've tried very few from this line, but nonetheless I'd recommend -

    Cuir d'Iris
    Cozé

Cuir d'Iris is similar to Dior Homme with a more prominent iris note. Or somewhat similar to Cuir Ottoman, but more iris-prominent. I find it more compelling than some other 'non-butch' leathers. Had reasonable longevity on my skin (based on 1 ml).

Cozé is a very interesting smoky, dry, ashy, blond tobacco fragrance. It's more unique than Cuir d'Iris, and is a must try. Again good sillage and tenacity (based on 1 ml).

I also remember sampling Cuir Venenum but didn't find it to be that remarkable. Based on my memory it's a sweet leather fragrance, roughly speaking. I much prefer Cuir Mauresque, which is roughly in the same ballpark in terms of scent profile. So you can skip Cuir Venenum and move on to Cuir Mauresque.

Yes, Cuir Venenum smelled exactly like beer to me. I was expecting a little beer note or something after the Guide review but it was overpowering. I must try Cuir d'Iris properly on skin as well. I found the opening off-putting on card but so many people have recommended it and I do enjoy leather and Iris.

    +1

Maybe Intrigant Patchouli instead of Aomassaï for me, but that's quibbling as they're all good.
