    Default Vintage perfume help!

    Hello All,

I bought a vintage bottle of perfume online and it's called Hugues De Castry (pdt or edp), bur I can't find any info online about it. It has a label on the front that shows the name, Marsielles France and 85%vol. On the bottom it only has engraved "modeles depose". It did not come with a box. Here is a picture of the perfume. Any help would be appreciated!

    Someone else looking in Germany

    Hallo,

I have another German one suggesting it was a copy perfume maybe.

    allo,

Nr. 41 hieß meines Wissens "No comment".

    allo,

JDG the company was a "Nachmixer" of expensive perfumes. This perfume was then mostly in private house sales (perfume party) to test and purchase.

Expensive brand originals were remixed and with minor changes made salable.
This JDG mixture was sometimes very close to the lines ...

The name of the perfume were usually chosen based on the brand name perfumes.
The JDG perfumes were offered at a fraction of the price of brand perfume.

No. 41 was called to my knowledge, "No comment."
It was a bestseller and was probably as brand perfume very successful.

Take the bottle with the next Parfumerie.
Explain a nice and competent seller your problem.
    Let them sniff times ...

Found it.. on the JDC website

Top - Bergamot, Lemon, Green Tea

    Mid - Jasmine, Iris, Lily-rose

Base - Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Amber, Oakmoss

Does that sound about right to the smell?

Thank you Mumsy! I am gathering that they are similar perfumes to the AVON perfumes in the US, but a better quality. Am I correct in my experience that the 85% by volume on the bottle means it's an EDP or PDT?
Someone else said they found something saying this was a woody-floral musk and it does open as a floral, albeit an older floral.
I had also noticed that the bottle looked more masculine than feminine to me. What do you think?

I discovered a vintage bottle here in France and love it. I find it quite unique and with plenty of character. I find it hard to compare it to anything else.
My bottle is different to yours. Its cylindrical in shape with a textured pattern on the glass.
I will try to post a photo of it tomorrow.
I am sure it is the same fragrance.

    Mumsy,

For it's age, the top notes have somewhat disappeared and open more in the middle notes. Still a little hard to tell, but I would say this is the one!

    Hello David!

I have seen the bottle you are speaking of on eBay and they are marketing it to women, but as Mumsy has pointed out, it's more of a unisex frag.

    Thanks,

    Sorry about the double photo.
This is my bottle. it's definitely a female fragrance, but a really good quality one and very interesting. It's quite heavy ~ along the lines of Bal a Versailles, but in no way a copy. It has it's own distinct character and is very old school, (in a good way !)

.....thanks southerngardens for your thread and thanks mumsy for all the information you provided !

Thanks David for the photos! That is the exact bottle they are selling a large supply of from an old deptartment store closing on ebay. The starting bid is only $9.99, but have been ending up at around $30. I found the unusual bottle of my Hugues de Castry for $15!
