Thread: Zara frags

    Default Zara frags

Has anyone tried any of the Zara fragrances? I bought three of them in the past and when I go back to smell them again, I'm quite impressed by them. What are your thoughts?

I have Zara Gold. It is reminiscent of aventus, very synthetic but quite nice. Very good longevity and sillage.

It has one of the most tacky bottles i've ever owned. Brushed gold aluminium with the name laser cut into it. Awful! I think they've redesigned it since, if I remember correctly it's in a rather understated but much nicer black rectangle bottle now.

Certainly a good fragrance for the price, IMO.

Ah yes, I own this one...

It now looks like this, much better! ...

Also have Zara Gold very pleased with it, I believe silver is somewhat similar to Cool Water.

I own 'For Him', 'Night' and 'Limited'. All of them were dirt cheap but none smells awful.

I have zara for him and it smells awesome. It reminds me a lot of givenchy play intense.

Personally don't care very much for them. At least the ones I've tried.

They are all pretty good copies of popular designer frags.

I rolled down to the local store a couple months ago and tried all of the men's line. I found them without exception cheap, uninspired, derivative, and forgettable.

They are made by Antonio Puig, the house behind Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne and CDG's scents. As someone said before, they are smell-alike versions of popular fragrances, however, sold under Zara's marketing concept: "limited affordable fashion", this meaning production batches are quite small, thus consumers are pushed to make up their minds for they know that what is being offered won't be in stock in the near -mid range future. So goes with fragrances.

Around 2008 they launched their first fragrances which were, IMO, modern interpretations of classic eaux: Zara Vetiver, Zara Sandalwood and Zara Amber. Vetiver was similar to Mugler's Cologne and Adolfo Dominguez' Vetiver (this one also made by Puig), Sandalwood was an aquatic woody and Ambar was a very unique, very well critised fragrance: many fellow BNoters thought that these were good value-for-money scents. Unfortunately, these were discontinued and replaced by blends leaning more on the "fashion" side of things, thus their similarity to present-day best-sellers.

I tried many of them on the rush and found most of them unbearable (well, this last description fits my opinion on the store's clothes design, Euro trash at its best), with the exception of Zara Homme Night and Zara Amber Gold.

Zara Homme Night smells like a generic modern day spicy scent, it's silage is tremendous as well as its longevity: I would def suggest it for a 20 - 30 yo man looking for an affordable scent to be worn at a disco.

Zara Amber Gold has very awkward, almost annoying top notes (there are generic fruit-like notes that feel discordant), with a 1970's - like musky drydown which I really enjoy. I bought a bottle of the later during the store's annual sales season for a very low price (USD 15). I think I would not have done so if it would have been sold under its regular price (USD 60).

Edit: If missing Lanvin's Arpege pour Homme, you cannnot go wrong with Zara Homme Night, they are very similar.

I've smelled Zara Gold once at the store. It's got pineapple, so everyone just jumps on the "smells like aventus" wagon.

I will say, that for what it is, it's decent for a younger guy.

    Good copies, not good fragrances.

I actually like Gold, Homme Night and Cedarwood amongst their male fragrances.

For one hour they smell good after that they smell like water that's where quality comes. I say the quality is bad.

I've recently been to Zara actually. They had like 8-10 perfumes on a table, I tested all of them. I only liked one. The other ones we're quite spicy and woody to my nose. The scents are definetly not bad but I doubt the longevity and projection is above average. The price is very reasonable. Next time I'm visiting Zara I'll buy the one I liked.

Zara Gold, Limited and UOMO have all three of them. I alternate them for the gym and sometimes I spray some on me to be around when I hang out with friends.

Last time I checked they don't sell them online and on Ebay people sell them for $80 a bottle which defeats the purpose of a cheaper alternative.

My god... $80? They're being sold for €15-€25 here. 1.7 to 3.4 Oz that is.
