    Default What affects longevity?

I sometimes get 8-10 hours and sometimes it's around 4-5 with the same cologne. What factors play role in that? And, Is it normal to vary that much?

    Thanks in advance.

Perhaps your skin chemistry and how it interacts with certain notes.

Higher temperatures make a frag evaporate faster, so if you are sweating or it's hot, a frag is going to last less time. Also, a frag lasts much longer on clothes, so if by chance you sprayed your clothes, it's going to last longer, though it may not project much.

Normally a bit of unscented lotion applied where your fragrance will be tends to help longevity greatly, otherwise your skin drinks it up!
Well, it's cheaper than therapy... edit: No it's not...

Keeping the number of sprays the same, the above is correct.

Thanks. I usually get poor longevity these days. I don't know what changed about my body chemistry. It's weird.

I applied it and looks like it worked. It's been 6 hours and will last a few hours more. Does lotion affect projection?

Temperature. Skin Chemistry. If you have longevity issues spray on clothes. Also notes in the fragrance.

I have pure aloe vera gel mixed in with pure glycerine which I use after shaving from time to time. Would the membership recommend I apply this a few minutes before spraying? I generally spray on my chest, then rub the excess with both my fore-arms. Is it better to allo the excess to stay on the skin rather than almost immediately transferring it? I don't want to be too agressive en parfumant but longevity is a good thing.
As to skin soaking up the oils, Last week I applied Terre Parfum in the morning for the first time and was really sleepy even until the afternoon!
Maybe hydration/hangover levels affect this too?

Longevity works best for me when sprayed on my bodies natural oils. After taking a shower and applying lotion I get half the longevity I would if applying a few hours after a shower giving my body time to produce its own oils.

I was going to say that a bit of your own body chemistry aka a little (fresh) sweat and body oils can add some longevity to a frag. Applying straight after a shower or bath means your pores are all open from the steam and heat. So waiting a while helps till you've cooled a bit. Cold water splashed on would have the same effect of closing the pores, but might be a bit uncomfortable unless it's boiling weather.

Anything from the environment to your mood can affect a fragrance's performance.
