From my small collection (alphabetically arranged):

    Aventus by Creed
    Bleu de Chanel by Chanel
    Green Irish Tweed by Creed
    L'Homme by YSL
    Silver Mountain Water by Creed

I only listed the ones I used most often, samples not included.

I agree with this - life is too short to wear a "safe, go-to, anytime, anywhere scent".

The passion I have for scent is about pushing boundaries, wearing I want to wear to express myself and enjoying the fragrance I am craving (or simply in the mood for)...

Maybe I am saying this because I'm coming off a 48 hour 'bender' of Vintage Jacques Bogart Furyo followed by Vintage Kouros. But, I have found (over the years) that you need to be confident in what you wear, as our fragrance is part of our attire and how we present ourselves to those we meet. So, choose the scent that allows you to make the statement you want - and always push the boundary.

    Cheers,

    ericrico

Great list. I would add GIT, Coolwater, Thierry Mugler Cologne, and YSL L'Homme.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Amyris Homme. Inoffensive but with enough complexity to make it interesting, moderate projection, and just overall great smell. Goes well dressed up or casual, summer or winter.

Friendly reminder, a safe scent is in the nose of the one pulling the trigger. Looking at this list there are some that I have an alergic reaction too. A safe scent is something you know does not disturb the people around you. When you pull the trigger keep an eye out for those around you to see if their having a reaction. Not just anyone but your significant other, family, friends, co-workers.
Beauty is in the nose of the beholder.

I have several I would turn to for any situation.

    Original Vetiver
    CDG 2 Man
    GIT
    YSL Rive Gauche
    Chez Bond
    Himalaya
    Acqua di Parma

Although if I had to pick just one it would be Chanel Sycomore, a beautiful smoky Vetiver that lasts all day.

Aqua Di Gio Essenza. Fresh and sporty when I need it; serious, deep, and long lasting when I need that.

I wear pretty much anything at any time, but application is carefully measured depending on the situation. The ultimate safe fragrance for me, if I have to choose one, is Bleu de Chanel.

My scent that I don't have a problem over-applying and then getting onto a plane for 14 hours would be Geranium Pour Monsieur, so that would be my safest anytime scent.

Invasion Barbare. Smells so versatile and safe that I ended up NOT buying it.

Hermes Jardin Sur La Toit or Acqua di Gio.

Hermes Jardin is just overall pleasing while Acqua di Gio just smells so generic I'd never even get noticed

Definitley Aventus and GIT, with Aventus just having the edge and winning on anytime, any place and any season.

Both extremley versatile and always appropriate scents though in my collection.

Safest of all time for me is Hermes Vetiver Tonka. It would smell appropriate on a man, woman, toddler, senior citizen, whatever.

Who doesn't like green caramel apple slices?

For a more masculine scent, probably Creed Spice and Wood. It smells so familiar but less offensive than most other similar scents.

If you want to make the Spice and Wood a little more 'fancy' while still keeping it 'safe', try layering it with a dab of Creed Sublime Vanille. That also brings more female noses in for a closer inspection.

You've confused it with another perfume.

Ultra safe scents I keep around to wear in a 1984 environment: Lanvin L'Homme, Bvlgari Man/pour Homme/Extreme.

When in a violent, sexually charged prison environment or at a football hooligan convention: Polo Modern Reserve, Armani Code Sport.

When confronted with mothers in law: Boss Bottled, Bvlgari Man.
