Personally didn't care for this or the later one when it was launched. Glad you liked it.

    I love it !!
Personally, I rate it very highly. It's funny how images/fantasies of perfumes stick with you. The first time I smelled this I got an image of West Sussex countryside in spring. Deciduous woodland, shady glades springled with bluebells. An image of early morning dewy grass and earthy, mushroomy, woody smells.
This is how the fragrance smells to me. Natural, delicate woods, with just a hint of violet hovering in the background. I know violet is not listed in the notes, but that's what I am getting. This fragrance conjures up very fond memories and images for me.

It is a nice, under the radar offering. Reminds me a bit of Giorgio Beverly Hills and Givenchy Gentlemen in the drydown.

SMELLS ALOT LIKE GEntleman, but has a bit more of a peppery smell. i recently got a big 4.23 oz sealed in box from ebay. $40! definatly a great deal, as i love this scent. under the radar indeed!

Thanks for reminding us of yet another underrated classic.

I have first tested this during the late 90s and have very fond memories about its suave, understated, but also elegantly mature and almost brooding style, not to mention that it's almost a steal for its usual retail price.

I'm on a haul for some bottles of this, recently. So I'd like to bump this.
Got my first bottle as a gift from Italy about six years ago. Yes there`s some similarity to Givenchy Gentleman.
Personally, I think this one is a true gem - and a textbook example of brilliant product design as the bottle perfectly interprets Pavarotti, even with a sprinkle of good humor (a Borsalino hat, a two-tailed suit that doesn't sit too well, hefty glass etc, etc ... the box with it's double-sided print is one of the fanciest but also classiest ones I've seen in mainstream perfumery ... )
The scent is a classical citrus-floral-patchouli, yet there's a stunning foody and boozy 'Panna Cotta', 'Amaretti' and 'Limoncello' quality to it. There's a 'women's kiss' lipstick-like accord, dry powderiness, even a bit of an oldschool women's perfume feel (lingering on cashmere sort of thing). The mossy citrus/rose/patch in LP in fact isn't too far away from vintage Mitsouko Eau de Cologne to my nose.
Also I get a faint woody-violet masculine aroma, some distant sandalwood and a truly soft leather.
A gentle hedonist's scent ... massive longevity on clothes and as a skin scent ... aftershave is also really really good ... .
    Any new thoughts on this?
