L'artisan Timbuktu and Dior Bois D'argent, both amazing scents that had wowed me.

invasion barbare by mdci- this was love at first sniff. Ever since i first wore it, it has grown on me ever since. Absolute beauty.

sova by slumberhouse- my love for sova is boundless. The super dry tobacco in here is unlike anything i've smelled before. Pair that with maple smells and woods upon woods and you have a real winner. Lasts forever too.

norne by slumberhouse- the second fragrance from the house i fell for. This one is seriously dark, resinous woods with some interesting smokiness in the background. It is slightly fresh, slightly dense, and very realistic.

pear and olive by slumberhouse- to be fair, this one is more the way it smells on others. I liked it on me, but it did not wow me. However, i gave a sample to my mother and she smells amazing when she wears it.

memoir man by amouage- not as recent, but definitely "wow's" me. Incense, wormwood, and pepper all blended into an awesome fragrance.
    great selections

    Nothing much, TBH.

Seville l'Aube was a pleasant surprise wow considering it's another Duchaufor.
Les Deserts Trio, of course - esp. Encens Mythique & Songe d'un Bois d'Ete.
Myrrh et Delires (that was a year ago).
    Opus VI was a wow.

Beloved Man is cool but intentionally not a 'wow' piece, and the new Forever Now Gucci Villoresi did is well worth trying but also a more understood piece of work.

L'Heure de Nuit is okay . . . La Petite Robe Noire Extrait is pretty good, worth owning if you're a Guerlainista.

Waiting to see if the new Dries van Noten par Frederic Malle wows me.

Aaaaah - Mito - that was 'wow' - gotta try the Extrait now.

Having said all that I'm not exactly chasing down the new releases these days
    interesting list mr.reasonalbe,

some of the one you mention are on my ready to buy list, looking forward to it more than before now

Beloved Man doesn't have the WOW factor for you? i'm planning to get one soon, hopefully is good

i haven't try Mito yet (getting Vero soon), so would Mito safe for a guy to wear?

Recently tried based on basenoter recommendations (all 2012 releases I think):

    MDCI Chypre Palatin
    Slumberhouse Norne
    Guerlain Songe D'un Bois D'Ete
    Vero Profumo Mito
    L'Artisan Seville A L'Aube
    Victor & Rolf Spicebomb
    Heeley Agarwoud
    Creed Original Cologne
    MfK Amyris Homme
    Dior Homme Sport
    Decenniel Bois Bourbon
    Mugler A*Men Pure Leather
    Cartier Declaration D'Un Soir
    Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velour
    Dior Eau Savage Parfum

Of these there were none that approached "wow" for me.
All in all pretty good stuff. Norne sticks out for it's unique naturalness. Songe D'Un Bois D'Ete
a cut above the rest. Only Cartier Declaration d'un Soir became a scrubber in a short time. And
I was surprized at how much I liked Creed Original Cologne now renamed Pure White Cologne. I'm
not in the cult but I can see making use of this.

Beloved is fine but not a 'wow' in that it's quite an understated piece of work. More a quiet nod

Mito is great either way IMO, but then I haven't really got a clue what's 'safe' for anyone else . . . it's quite a classical 'green' with verbena and a mix of herbal and floral notes underscored by a benzoin, slightly oriental accord. And that's just the EDP - I can't wait to get my hands on the Extrait.

Thanks for the rundown, pluran! Will be interested to hear what you think of the new Gucci that Villoresi did. It doesn't yell but seems quite detailed, well thought out, as much as a quick spritz on wrist and paper at the boutique can offer, anyway. It has a classic sorta vibe, slightly rustic herbal thing going on - definitely not trying too hard (like so many new 'masculines') - worth a look.

Ted Lapidus Black Soul. Wow, I love this stuff. I'm a big fan of 1 Million, and this is definitely in the same category. But, it's spicier, mintier, and fresher. The spearmint in this one mixed with that camphorous Lapidus trademark note is incredible. When it mixes with the cinnamon, saffron and tolu, it almost creates a wintergreen type vibe. I may even like this one as much or more than 1 Million. My only complaint is I wish it were a bit stronger. But for the price, this is a no brainer. I'm going to blind buy Black Soul Imperial soon too and give it a shot based on my love of this one. I'd definitely say Black Soul and Spicebomb are my two latest "Wow" fragrances that I've bought this year.
