Invasion Barbare by MDCI, where was I from the time this b'ful frag born? I have been so irresponsible, so please forgive me for buying u so late

Another - Clive Christian C - a huge WOW - I didn't read Tom Ford Tuscan Leather on the sample vial - this frag is more than a 90% clone of Tuscan Leather, so I am happy to have bought TL first...

Lastly - Versace Eros - WOW wonderful bottle with crap juice inside...STAY AWAY from this

The last two that I thought 'wow' were Montale's Mukhallat and Keiko Mecheri's Mulholland which was more of a 'wow' in terms of how versatile I thought it was. I'm usually not a huge fan of citrus but Mulholland seems just so well done and rounded.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten that feeling from anything in a while. Spicebomb was good enough to warrant purchasing the gift set, but didn't knock my socks off. Other than that, I haven't really found anything worth buying for quite a while.

Another +1 on Jardin d'Amalfi. I usually dislike Creed releases and expected to be let down yet again, but I really was quite pleasantly surprised.

As to my own... The two releases from the small limited distribution designer house Anat Fritz, Anat Fritz (original) and Tzora are both absolutely amazing smelling and wowed me for almost polar opposite reasons.

Honorable mention to Supercilium by O'driu which is an extremely innovative take on vetiver.

Yes I've heard of that. It's the only fragrance on the planet known to contain royal pineapple.
Some say Olivier Creed's descendants came to earth many centuries ago with the occult knowledge of perfumery. Since then it has been passed on only through their bloodline on the male side.
You may need to find a grey market source though, as I believe only those with the correct genetic characteristics are permitted to enter their boutiques.

    Define 'recent'

    Nothing much, TBH.

Seville l'Aube was a pleasant surprise wow considering it's another Duchaufor.
Les Deserts Trio, of course - esp. Encens Mythique & Songe d'un Bois d'Ete.
Myrrh et Delires (that was a year ago).
    Opus VI was a wow.

Beloved Man is cool but intentionally not a 'wow' piece, and the new Forever Now Gucci Villoresi did is well worth trying but also a more understood piece of work.

L'Heure de Nuit is okay . . . La Petite Robe Noire Extrait is pretty good, worth owning if you're a Guerlainista.

Waiting to see if the new Dries van Noten par Frederic Malle wows me.

Aaaaah - Mito - that was 'wow' - gotta try the Extrait now.

Having said all that I'm not exactly chasing down the new releases these days

Hermes Vetiver Tonka Very nice take on vetiver, considering a full bottle purchase
Frederic Malle En Passant Such a photorealistic lilac, one of the most beautiful florals I've smelled recently. Interesting composition with the bread lingering in the background.

The Different Company Limon de Cordoza
Great citrus, a clean modern edc. The lemon rivals Eau d'Hadrien.

It seems I've been traveling the same fragrance roads - so some of these are repeats of what others have already noted.

    Creed Jardin d' Amalfi - mediterranean citrus groves + spring flowers + sunshine . . . in a bottle.
Creed Pure White - as pure as Guerlain's Cologne du Parfumeur, which was probably the target, but slightly more modern.
Guerlain Songe d' un Bois d' Été - this is "Leather Oud" fitted with a seamless automatic transmission.
Divine L' Homme Infini - smoothe, timelesss, uplfting.
Escentric Molecules Kinski - wild and smokey leaves and brambles. leave a trail of bread crumbs or you may get lost in the woods.
Clive Christian "C" - Leather is not my favorite but this is as good as it gets in leather.
Clive Christian "V" - frankincense and forest leaves - excellent.
Anat Fritz Tzora - light incense woods with typical Geza Schoen (eccentric molecules) luminscence.
Guerlain Homme L' Eau Boisee - impossible not to like! Smoothe and uplifting. a similar flanker to Homme L' Eau but more woods.
TDC Limon de Cordoza, L' Esprit Cologne - smells of: limes, bitter orange, milled soap, then dry guaiac, vetiver, patchouli woods. A superb summer cologne.

Believe it or not, I actually think that Armani Code Ultimate is a very good scent! I dismissed it early on, but after trying a free sample last week, my wife and I both thought it was really nice. I swapped my Acqua di Gio Essenza for it this weekend (exchanged at Macy's). My wife likes the powdery sweet stuff like Code on me, but the aquatics leave her cold.

    Recent wowzers for me:

Cartier Declaration: Where has this been this whole time? It's very "me." Every time I wear it I find it so fully satisfying.
Montale Black Aoud: Took a second full-day wear from my sample to convince me. Felt luscious and fancy all day. I knew I liked rose, but this is the first rose scent I've found (so far) that really works on me.
Amouage Jubilation XXV: Always appreciated this one from testing in the past, but only with my recent sample have I started to fall for it. It's not as loud and heavy as some make it out to be. It IS huge, but more in the intricacy of its composition and the deep quality of the ingredients. But it wears with handsomeness and civility. (Deciding between this and Memoir Man as my first full bottle of Amouage.)

There have been a lot (often from the same house):

Chypre Palatin by MDCI- When I first wore it I was a little confused and feeling feminine, but as it dries down, this scent is pure heaven. I love it and I am glad I have 24mL to spray my way through.

Invasion Barbare by MDCI- This was love at first sniff. Ever since I first wore it, it has grown on me ever since. Absolute beauty.

Sova by Slumberhouse- My love for Sova is boundless. The super dry tobacco in here is unlike anything I've smelled before. Pair that with maple smells and woods upon woods and you have a real winner. Lasts forever too.

Norne by Slumberhouse- The second fragrance from the house I fell for. This one is seriously dark, resinous woods with some interesting smokiness in the background. It is slightly fresh, slightly dense, and very realistic.

Pear and Olive by Slumberhouse- To be fair, this one is more the way it smells on others. I liked it on me, but it did not wow me. However, I gave a sample to my mother and she smells AMAZING when she wears it.

Memoir Man by Amouage- Not as recent, but definitely "wow's" me. Incense, wormwood, and pepper all blended into an awesome fragrance.

Guerlain Heritage - recent formulation EDT. Seems better than previous one. Really wonderful woodiness.

Xerjoff modoc - mild vetiver and iris. Brilliant why hasn't anyone thought of this before - and then executed it with these fantastic materials.

Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur - the sublime lavender/tonka with some civet. Civilised in a "pistols at dawn" kind of way.

Rosine Rose d'homme - brilliant in its obvious but unique nature.

Annick Goutal - Eau de Monsieur. The perfect sublime Eau with a twist. Imagine Eau sauvage with perfect materials and a twist of immortelle.
