I'm just curious to know which female fragrances you have tried ? Maybe there are some you wear regularly, some that you think work fine on a man etc.
I know a lot of the niche perfumers market their fragrances as unisex - I'm thinking more of fragrances that are marketed as female - Chanel No 5 etc.
Thanks in advance.

I just wear what I like and to name a few:
Lolita Lempicka ....
I've tried/worn quite a few that are classified as "feminine" here on BN directory. I like the first three, but would only purchase the top two if I have the money. The rest, I really don't care about them:
Coromandel by Chanel
Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain
Un Bois Vanille by Serge Lutens
Sycomore by Chanel
Shalimar by Guerlain
Beyond Love by By Kilian
HDDP is on the money with the Chanel Exclusifs - it's staggering that they've been marketed as feminine, when I find some of them to be more masculine than they are unisex. Eau Suave by Parfum d'Empire is another womens fragrance I have no problems wearing, as is Edwardian Bouquet by Floris.
For some context, I'm certainly not one that subscribes to the idea that 'anybody can wear anything'; the vast majority of womens fragrances I'd never feel comfortable wearing, but there are a rare few that I feel are at least unisex.
In this forum, you'll find guys who have tried all sorts of female fragrances and worn them well. I've worn Black Orchid, but that one has caught on with enough men that it's sometimes sold among men's scents these days.
"Follow your nose. It always knows." -- Toucan Sam
I've tried several but I've only owned:
Mitsouko - went in the garbage
Chanel 19 - now used as air deodorant
Coromandel - went in garbage Chocolate Hell !
Amouage Jubilation 25 (female) Loving it
* If Estee Lauder Private Collection was of better quality I would purchase it as well.
I have stopped using all but the Amouage. The Mitsouko was also fine but compared to the Amouage J25(similar) it was cat piss so I stayed with the J25.
The others are unisex "ok" but I became uncomfortable about them for being too unisex. I think my face turned bright red while wearing coromandel. Smelling like white chocolate was not for me. Great for a high schooler though.
I also like leather scents labeled as unisex but I tend to like a cologne made specifically for men.
For Sale:Gucci Pour Homme II , Amouage Attar,Lubin Idole http://www.basenotes.net/threads/313...dwide-Shipping
I have tried many sprays at the counter. Most are not for me even if I like them. But I own the following and wear rhem all occasionally.
Black Orchid. Projection bomb and works well on a confidant man. Maybe better than on a woman.
Sycomore. How is this considered a womans fragrance?
Womanity. Weird. Got it for halloween when I dressed as a zombie. Got a ton of complements.
Dior Addict (vintage). Vanilla. Good stuff.
Elixir des Merveilles. Orange chocolate gourmond. In some ways reminds me of TdH.
Acqua di Gioia. Aqutic fruit and sugar with a hint of cedar in the base. Very sweet. A guy can't wear this but I do as a guilty pleasure.
1. Amouage Epic man
2. Dior Leather Oud
3. Perris Monte Carlo Oud Imperial Black
4. Le Labo Patchouli 24
5. Amouage Opus VII
6. Byredo Bullion
7. Norma Kamali Incense

And I just bought Amarige
My wife's Armani Code.
And sometimes I spray my sheets with Paloma Picasso or Knowing.
Form is emptiness, emptiness is form.
Own FB's & use w/o a problem - Bandit by Robert Piguet & almost all the Chanel Exclusifs (as mentioned by HDDP) & the lovely Guerlain Jicky extrait...
Carnal Flower by Malle is AMAZING as well, but too floral for me to handle, I have 2-3 samples of this...
Own and wear on occasion:
No. 5 - samples
1. Le 3me Homme - Caron
2. Yatagan - Caron
3. Van Cleef & Arples Pour Homme
4. Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme
5. Kouros - YSL
6. L'Anarchiste - Caron
7. Xeryus - Givenchy
8. V.I.P. Special Reserve - Giorgio Beverly Hills
9. The Dreamer - Versace
10. Nobile - Gucci
As always, many thanks to all respondents. If you so desire, keep em' coming..........
I read on one of the other threads that one or more posters use the female D+G Light Blue - any thoughts ?
I own and wear Portrait of a Lady regularly. Despite the name, I don't consider it "feminine" leaning at all. Others I own and enjoy wearing are vintage Bal à Versailles Parfum, Ma Liberte and vintage 1000.
As far as which ones I have tried... Too many to mention.

Mitsouko by Guerlain, probably the best female scent on male skin.
This is a question that has been repeated many times on other threads. Once again; fragrance has no gender, if you like it wear it. When you go out, no-one can see the bottle. Marketing decides the sex to target. Fashions in fragrance change; what is "feminine" in one decade can become "masculine" in another.
I have worn Mitsouko, Shalimar, L'Heure Bleu, Apres L'Ondee, Bal a Versailles, Perfumer's Workshop Tearose, Bandit, Dzing, Jicky, Chanel 19. If I find any others that I like I will wear them. I do not care about marketing, only about the smell.
Bronze Goddess - estee lauder
Alien Essence Absolue -mugler
Zen original - Shiseido
Angel fragrance of leather - mugler
Sensuous Noir - estee lauder
-Cologne is the only fashionable thing that fits me! (Me, circa 1997-present)

None so far. Only smelled on women or from bottles.

Considering to wear someday: Bvlgari Jasmin Noir (in any concentration), Chanel No. 19, maybe also Chanel Cristalle, Silences de Jacomo

I think the only two I've tried that are listed as female fragrances are Beyond Love and Kere.
Beyond Love was a tuberose bomb with some coconut. Not my kind of thing
Kere is praline, caramel, apples and cinnamon. I really liked it, and people liked it on me.
Tried with success:
Donna Karan Black Cashmere
Kingdom by McQueen
D&G Light Blue
Most guerlain, chanels, and creeds. A couple Hermes as well.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
I wear regularly atleast these so called feminine fragrances:
Shaal Nur, Sycomore, Irisss, Eau de Shalimar and Chanel Eau de Cologne
Tried ? - couldn't even begin to recollect. I pay scant regard to gender marketing and prefer to approach each house with an open mind, and the intention of sampling everything.
Regularly use -
Vol de Nuit.
Feminite du Bois.
Bois des Iles.
Portrait of a Lady.

I frequently wear:
Vol de Nuit
Teint de Neige
and many unisex fragrances.
Far too many to count.
"No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this." Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami, Album 1999.
Chanel No 5.
The MF distinction is a bit fuzzy to me. For example, some of my favorite Lutens are designated as female, but I'm not certain why; and most of what I wear today isn't sexed at all. With that said, fragrances that I've worn that are specifically pour madame: Poison, Coco Chanel, Lush's Lust, and Youth Dew Amber Nude.
I'm hearing good things about Womanity, although I've despised everything from Mugler that I've smelled so far.

Chanel No. 5 and Eau d'Italie's Magnolia Romana.
Le Feu D'issey
S. Double Vanille
to name a few...
Only coromandel , sycamore and portrait of a lady
Recently wore a sample of Creed Love in White. Reckon I could have rocked it, but I gave it to my mum.
Anglomania -- Let it Rock -- Bandit -- Hypnotic Poison -- Sycomore
My all time favorite:
Sampled all the Amouage female frags and want to get
Am comfortable wearing them all...
Tom Ford Black Orchid
Creed Jardin d' Amalfi
Frederic Malle Carnal Flower/Portrait of a Lady
Guerlain Spiriteuse Double Vanille
Clive Christian X
Creed Royal Oud
Mona di Orio Oud
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather
Tom Ford Oud Wood
Tom Ford Patchouli Absolu
Tom Ford Plum Japonais
Aqua di Parma Colonia Leather
I just can't get into female fragrances. I have experimented with a few Chanels which supposedly are quite masculine but I don't like it and don't feel comfortable. Wish that I would for I believe that women's fragrances tend to be made of higher quality than mens.
The only one I have and wear is Kingdom by Alexander McQueen. Would love to try Portrait of a Lady though.

Good to see there still a few enlightened people on Basenotes.
I wear these and a few others:
Mitsouko (vintage, any concentration)
Shalimar (vintage edp, parfum)
Diorella (vintage edt)
No 19 (modern edt)
Chanel Cuir de Russie (vintage pre-Exclusifs, any concentration)
1000 (vintage edt)
Parfum de Peau (vintage edt)
Opium (vintage, any concentration)
Bandit (vintage edt)
Most people I know believe that all of them are masculine. :-)
they seem pretty unisex to me.
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.
Black orchid, own. Tried recently Burberry brit (women) really nice. I think it is under-rated, need to try again and might buy if I still like it.
I own Bulgari Black & Chanel Cuir De Russie.
Have tried lots, including Chanel No.5 and Coco (and I'm a double-hard, scary monster).
Balmain de Balmain
Guerlain Herba Fresca
Marc Jacobs Ivy Splash
O de Lancome
Estee Lauder Youth Dew
I just ordered a bottle of Bal a Versailles edc and can't wait to try it.
Also, I'm planning on buying a bottles of Piguet Bandit and Guerlain Jicky, which I have tried and absolutely love.
I have tried many feminine fragrances and also enjoyed:
Estee Lauder Private Collection
Estee Lauder Cinnabar
Chanel Cuir de Russie (edt)
Clinique Aromatics Elixir
Caron Nuit de Noel (edt)
Guerlain L'Heure Bleue (edp)
Guerlain Shalimar (edp)
Guerlain Mandarine Basilic
Tom Ford Black Orchid
Marc Jacobs Orange Splash
Hermes Eau des Merveilles
Basically gender means absolutely nothing to me when I'm looking for fragrances, the only time anyone has ever commented on me smelling feminine was one time while wearing Aromatics Elixir a friend of mine said I smelled like a grandma, which I took as a compliment. I'm still surprised no one has said anything when I wear Youth Dew though.
Flower bomb, occasionally
I wear Jicky EdP from time to time (it gets marketed nowadays towards women), as well as Mitsouko EdP. I plan to buy Shalimar EdP someday.
Too many to count!
I am surprised to see Sycomore referred to here as a "female" fragrance, I always felt it was "masculine" (unisex, really, like so many).
I have bottles of Shalimar, Tabac Blond, Mitsouko, Chanel Cuir de Russie, Boudoir, Nuit Noire, Cabochard, Bandit, Habanita, Bois d'Armenie and others that I believe were marketed as "female". I have samples or decants of many more. The ones of these I wear most often are Chanel Cuir de Russie and Bandit.
I dislike most fragrances marketed towards men; like men's clothing, the options are disappointingly few and the profiles too similar. I also don't care much for a lot of white florals or purely floral scents in general. So I live mostly in the "unisex" part of the fragrance spectrum.
Behemoth cut a slice of pineapple, salted it, peppered it, ate it, and then tossed off a second glass of alcohol so dashingly that everyone applauded.
