Incense just doesn't make much sense to me in a frag.
The musk frags I have experience with just seem too "women's perfumey."
Heavy vanilla, as in Givenchy Pi, is not for me either. I could just dab on some vanilla extract if I wanted that effect.
And anything urinal or fecal is too absurd to even think about.

In any quantity: clove and melon.

In really loud amounts: cedar ( la Christian LaCroix Tumulte) and pine.

But 2 frags that i simply can not stand are Creed Original Vetiver and Encre Noire. Both of these have this bizarre almost sweet smell, that hits me right in the back of the throat. I'm assuming its the Vetiver in them.

It really nauseates me. Its a real shame for Encre Noire, because i really like where they were going with it. I can detect some other very interesting subtleties that are very nice. But the overpowering Vetiver kills it.
It may be the South American variety of vetiver. There are occasions when its blended with some note, it gets sweet. I know what you're talking about.

A lot of people may want to jump in & say its the ISO E Super & vetiver. No ISO E Super smells different or actually amplifies the scent differently. Theres definitely some other aromachemical in EN and a few other perfumes that do this too.

    Almost everything is synthetic now.
The cutting line being quality of synthetic material used.

Exasperating, isn't it? Then looking at their wardrobes you find that they own fragrances chock-full of man-made materials.

For me, lily of the valley is problematic if it's a main note (hey, maybe because it's a synthetic material ), I get that raspy feeling in the back of my throat of it. Strongly aldehydic fragrances are a no-no, and I am wary of cumin and coriander, they can work on me but most of the time they go too pungent.

I see so many people say they hate anything "synthetic" I agree with the others who respond to that statement by saying virtually all frags currently on the market are synthetic, and the houses who boast that they have all natural ingredients are either stretching the truth, or have horrible projection/longevity/sillage. I disdain anything with a peach smell.
