Default Question for the techies: Is it possible to prolong the life of a fleeting topnote

With the new substances and technologies available to the perfumer, is it possible to make, let's say, lemon, become a basenote in terms of duration? Or are there limits to what can be done with fleeting notes?

What are good examples of perfumes that made the traditional topnotes last much longer?

This would be a good question to post in the DIY form http://www.basenotes.net/forums/15-Fragrance-DIY as there are Basenotes perfumers that could probably give you a more informed answer.
