BANG is peppery but very shortlived. 15 minutes max.

15 minutes? And after that what does the smell consist of?

This has not been my experience. I put some on before a flight to DC last year and almost 7 hours later when my friend picked me up from the airport he asked me as soon as he greeted me what fragrance I had on. I was surprised. The longevity fools you - it's there, but most likely your nose has become accustomed to it.

It smells of pepper for about 15 minutes (maybe 10 minutes) after that there is really nothing there, in my experience. Try it and see - you might have better luck like Mikeprerez23 above.

Modern peppery scents are often engineered with ISO E super which itself smells peppery/cedar and is very tenacious . Pepper smells tend to be very fleeting on its own - like citrus.

I recommend Malle's French Lover for a dry-throat, scratchy, long-lasting pepper scent... not BANG. That's rubbish.

Bois d'Encens is pure pepper in the opening.

+9000 for Oscar for Men - it's one of my absolute favourites!

Another vote for Bang here too. Benzoin or no benzoin, it's far from sweet.
    Smelling good on a budget!

Do not buy anything before you try Villoresi's Piper Nigrum. A lot of fine suggestions, but some of them has black pepper in the background, here it takes the center stage. It's warm and fullbodied but I wouldn't call it sweet.

Byblos in Black is another addition to the good suggestions above. Not an iota of sweetness in it. It has deceptive longevity, in that while it seems to disappear after about an hour, it is actually still there many hours after application, since others can smell it. The molecules in pepper that makes one lose sense of smell must be concentrated in this frag.

Oscar and beat are on their way to me.

Can't find a uk stockist for piper nigrum, does anybody know of one? This sounds perfect.

    Tried l'occitan and bang today:

L'occitan - too much lavender for me, made me feel a bit sickly really.

Bang - pretty much spot on. Although I can echo an earlier posters comment that the black pepper doesn't last long but it still leaves behind a spicy masculine aftereffect.

On another note, I tried a few Tom fords and liked grey vetiver a lot, extreme kind of grabbed me too, very masculine. I didn't try tom ford for men but if that is a toned down extreme it may well be the one I'll go for.

Still waiting on Oscar and beat.

French Lover has a long, spiky black pepper heat to it.

I've only smelled the opening of Amouage Honour Man but it was pure black and pink peppercorns, just crushed in a pestle and mortar.

Bang has a strong black pepper note, but sadly, it is sweet. :-(
