Default D-i-y or @Home Synthesis of fragrances?

Take whatever flower petal, plant parts etc. you want the scent to be like and soak them in isopropyl alcohol for a week.

What a marvellous idea. A jam jar is always good because of the lovely wide neck. Good idea to filter all the bugs out using a coffee filter before wearing.

Burnelie, Nice thought and yes, you *may* get *some* odor, but don't try to make a perfume out of that...
Back to the Library I'm afraid to learn Real Perfume Making Techniques.

And don't believe everything that you read on the Internet, get a real book.

Are you sure guys this alcohol method is completely useless?
What if ... what if. .. for example someone would use liquid butane for extraction to make concrete and than isolate the alcohol-soluable compounds? This is not so hard to do. And seems quite good way (It's like CO2 extraction but with less controll over what solves in the solvent) ...
