Default Suggestion request : woody-spicy fragrance

    Hello everyone !

Some days ago, I asked for your suggestions about a "sparkling and invigorating" cytrus-green aromatic fragrance. This fragrace would be my main perfume, work and casual use. I received many kind and useful reply by you guys and I'm very glad. Now I'm here to ask you for suggestions about another kind of fragrance.

As I call the citrus-aromatic-woody fragrance I asked for some days ago " a golden-green" perfume, now I call the fragrance I'm asking you for now "a golden-brown" perfume.
Actually, I'm interested in a warm, confortable, sweet woody and little spicy-oriental masculine fragrance, for night use: It should be not too lound or oud-like, but someting attractive, breathy, seductive, sexy, warm confortable...Evocative of some exotic location (middle east), but too loud, and it should be, anyway, "breathing".

    So, I wish :

    -nice citrus opening
    -sweet wood dominating
    -some spice
    -some musk
    ----some very sexy aromatic-----
    -maybe some leather
    -maybe some incense

    I dont' want :
    -tobacco (not at all)
    -civet (not at all)
    -gourmand notes (not at all)
    -acquatic notes (not at all)
    -some floral is possible
    -medicine notes : I hate

I like just a little presence, just a little bit of :
    -amber
    -incense

I dont like very much, but could be possible :
    -patchouli (mmm...for me too intense)
    -sandalwood (mmm...for me too barbershop)

To take some example, we should consider the glorious italian style woody-spicy and little fougere fragrances from the '80s, and then, look for someting more modern in this way. I recall :

-missoni pour homme : discontinued, and it was wonderful. wonderful woods, some spice, and a golden cytrus opening

-cacharel pour homme : woody-spicy, a bit of leather...very romantic and warm. I find similarities in Penhaligon's Opus, but I don' t like Opus very much

    -Trussardi Uomo : wood-leather: Good

-Sergio Soldano Man (Black) : great fragrance, sweet woody:good

-Arrogance pour homme : very nice

    -Arrogance uomo : very nice

-John Varvatos : nice, not convinced

-Azzaro pour homme : nice opening and nice woods, but too on the fougere side and too old man

-Drakkar Noir : too on the fougere side, I don't like it

    -Fahrenheit : I don' t like it

-hermes bel ami : great woods, but too old style, good for an old gentlemen, not a man in his 30-40

-Hermes equipage : nice , but too old style as bel ami

-burberrys for man ( the original one) : very nice !

-Capucci : very nice but too cheap

-Davidoff ( the original one) : GREAT !!! Sweet wood and spirkling spices ! SEXY !

    -Zino Davidoff : I don't like it

-ho Hang Club : I don't like it

In these years I smelled at :

-Creed bois de Portugal : very good and powerful, those good woods are really good, but too prominent and I find it a little too old stile, granfather-like

-YSL M7 : nice, but too medicinal

-La nuit de l' homme : I don't like it

-The famous amber fragrances from L' artisan, MGP, Lutence, Reminescence ecc...: too much amber, too sticky. Should be nice a "breathing" amber, very hard to find...

-body kouros : too gourmand, too offensive, it reminds me axe spray

    -Angel : I hate. disgusting

    - D squared wonderwood ( all the versions) : nothing special, too ordinary

-Villoresi Piper Nigrum : elegant and important, but not my fragrance

-Mark Jackobs Bang, and Bang Bang : too peppery

-Gucci pour homme, Envy, Rush : too much incense

    -I don't like Creed's

The fragrance I'm looking for Has got to be sexy, warm, a little exotic. Not too much loud, a little sweet in its masculinity. Imagine a stylish dark leather jacket, cool sunglasses, porsche cabrio, in the '80s , but with a more contemporary feeling and new model porsche...

I hope in your kind suggestions

    Ciao,
    Marco

Wow a tall order, you sure know what you are looking for. Check out Tom Ford Extreme it seems more or less what you are looking for though it may not check every box on your detailed list. Good luck on your search!

I was thinking this one as well.

    I would suggest:

Cerruti 1881 - nice citrussy bergamot opening and a spicy, woody drydown.

Estee Lauder Brasil Dreams for Him - very warm woody, dry and spicy - much better than the name/packaging would suggest!

Oscar for Men - citrus opening and lots of woody / spicy notes - warm and dense.

Perhaps Must de Cartier pour Homme, or the spicier L'Essence version. Two other suggestions - Dia Man by Amouage; 1828 by Histoires de Parfums.

    mmm...

I tryed Tauer l' air du desert marocain, and I find it very similar to Vagabondo (gli invisibili series) by Ilde Soliani.
I don't like them both. Too sticky and sweet candies. Anyway, the fragrance is very evocative, the souk and the carovane...
Not what I' m looking for.

I think someting like Davidoff ( 1984 original) , Missoni pour homme ( discontinued), Arrogance..., hopefuly in a more contemporary style

Brasil Dreams is a good call - under the radar hip retro-moderne.

Songe d'un Bois d'Ete is the first one that sprung to mind for me.

Montale Patchouli Leaves... spicy woody green.

Frederic Malle Bois d'Orage ... elegant lightly spiced woods.

MPG Parfum d'Habit ... edgy & dark, woods with incense & leather.

The Malle probably goes best with that new Porche.

If you want a cleaned up and smoothed out (more contemporary?) version of the elusive Davidoff (1984) try:

    Vermeil for Men

Very similar to the original Davidoff but many claim a refined and updated version.

Hmmm... it may not be exactly what you are looking for but you could consider:
    Hermès Elixir des Merveilles

It is citrus-woody, somewhat sweet and warm.

I don't think these meet your "sexy" requirements but they match just about everything else and they're both really good.

I would suggest Amouage Honour Man. The notes are Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, Geranium, Elemi, Nutmeg, Patchouli, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Tonka Beans, Musk. The dominating scent though is of a citrusy cedar- citrus most likely coming from the lemony aspect of elemi. It may not be as spicy as you want, but worth a try if you like citrusy woods. I personally love it.
