Default Ammonium bituminosulfonate and it's possible use

Recently i had to cure myself with Ammonium bituminosulfonate.
As you can read in the wikipedia Ammonium bituminosulfonate (ichthyol or ichthammol, CAS#8029-68-3 brand names: Albichthyol) is a product of natural origin obtained in the first step by dry distillation of sulfur-rich oil shale. It is used in medicine as a remedy for treating some skin diseases, such as acne, eczema and psoriasis.
Pretty cheap too. Less than a 1 $ for 20g package.
It has a pretty strong smell of Asphalt (as You would imagine in Tauer's Lonestar Memories before you smell it, if you smell it it's actually just geranium).
This could be a nice alternative for birch tar or rectified post-destructive distillation amber oil.
Can't really find any info on perfumery use on goodscent. Also i am afraid this substance can be pretty reactive with other compounds.
    What do You guys think?

Sounds creosotic to me. Creostote-like materials are used often in perfume.

Bitumen/Asphalt/Tar sounds good. Would be very interested if this is usable for perfumery too.

Did you use it pure or was it an ointment mixed with other stuff, as this article suggests:

    Seems generally low toxic.

Maybe it we could ask the manufacturer directly.

It's an 10% ointment in vaselin and lanolin.
I would make an extract before use - but that's kust theory. Haven't tried it yet.

Quote from P.Kiler 22 Jan 2013 DIY thread 'Tea tincture, and tinctures in general'

''Thanks for making me think of tinctures today. They just asphalt slurry sealed my street in front of me, so I just bottled up some asphalt slurry seal tincture in 200 proof alcohol, (because it was already wet, no need to add a lesser proof alcohol already containing more water...) ''

There's something about Coal Tar soap on this section:-

Google search seems the quickest way to find these nuggets of wisdom imo.

    Hope it helps.
