Default Layering with similar cheaper frags, anyone?

I was curious if anyone else does this. For example before I put on my AdG I spray a base of Perry Ellis 360 red, Michael Jordan Legend before a spray or two of New Haarlem. Animale Animale before A-men. Would you consider this to be contaminating, or bringing down the more expensive frag. I think of it as a way to stretch some of my more valuable frags while keeping the same vibe.

It depends how often you use the more expensive Frag. I only use most of mine every 15 -30 days, so it's not really worth trying to prolong them, because they are going to last for a long time anyway. a 100ml bottle should get you (depending on sprayer) anywhere from 600-1000 sprays (that's a lot of wearings!

In the case of New Haarlem, it's a 5ml decant. A-men and AdG are 1.7 oz which by themselves can go in a season. My collection isn't so big that I have a hard time trying to finish a bottle. Thanks for your replies.

I don't layer too often, but when I do, I use similar scents usually from the same house.

I almost never layer, but if I do, I try to find scents with comparable longevity, projection, notes etc., otherwise, my layering experiments might to soon get out of control.

I agree with Dailey; I would personally rather savor my super-nice scents on their own and enjoy them sparingly-- perhaps for special dates or occasions--- than to compromise them by wearing them along with something else, especially a scent which I considered to be inferior. But if what you're doing works for you and you enjoy it, then go for it!
I send thee this sweet perfume a fragrance to the fragrant, as one would offer wine to the god of wine.
