Oh, wait. Wrong punctuation to match the question.
it sounds like weird thread.... but just need people opinions that why they wear perfumes?
do you wear fragrance just bcoz you want to smell good ?
( is that only for yourself )
you wants to get compliments from people ?
( oho damn.... you smell nice )
Oh, wait. Wrong punctuation to match the question.
This particular topic has been mentioned numerous times on here and elsewhere, and the general consensus from what I've seen among fragrance enthusiasts is that they wear scents primarily for their own enjoyment and amusement, but getting compliments and pleasing others is a nice bonus when it happens.
I tend to agree.

I buy perfume because it is art (at least when perfumers treat is as such and are allowed some breathing room).
Like climbing Everest--because it's there.
Actually, I just like smelling good.
"No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this." Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami, Album 1999.
Because smelling something that I like can lift my mood in a very real, very quick way. It's better for me than alcohol or chocolate, and certainly quicker than sex.
I enjoy experiencing perfume. I don't often get compliments and I really don't derive any pleasure from getting compliments. I really don't care what other people think of my perfume choices, as long as its not my wife hating it. Usually, when someone comments on what I'm wearing, I just find it interesting to see what they find noteworthy.

If you're doing it because of any other reason than that you like it then you probably have some issues to look into.
It makes me feel good and confident.

2. Loewe Essencia
3. Bergamotto Marino

Smell good for myself. I don't mind compliments, but I'm happy as long as I'm not offending or causing others discomfort.
Probably for quite a multitude of reasons. Maybe almost as many, as there are fragrances available out there.
Speaking from my own perspective, apart from the obvious reason of smelling good, also, the whole routine of choosing, becoming acquainted with a fragrance, its backstory, for the pleasant anticipation of the gradual development of its notes and more or less hidden facets, for the hobby, for the generally altogether beneficial effect on my good spirits (even if no theory has proven it officially, I still think the emotional, mental etc. benefits are there), the socializing (both within fragrance communities and beyond) and the list may go on almost indefinitely, with one major reason still to be added.
Namely, it made me acquainted with Basenotes. It may sound odd, but if I only would have occasionally bought much less fragrances and would have worn them only infrequently, I would have never been interested in opinions, interactions about the fragrance development over time etc. - This community, however, made me fascinated not just about fragrance talk, interaction and knowledge, it also made me rediscover the sheer fun and enjoyment of wearing fragrances, plus about "taking the fragrance journey", plus simply becoming more familiar with knowing and enjoying a fragrance on a daily basis (not just on shelves, on message boards, but during a regular daily schedule).
Purely to smell good. If others like it too and comment on it then that's all good too.
Hard work never killed anyone, but why risk it?
I enjoy the smell.
I wear a lot of vintage fragrances, so according of IFRA I'm trying to kill myself.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????????????????!!!! !?!!?????!!!!!!!!!!!?????
Makes me feel good.
It's fascinating to me because I never really thought there was a whole genre of art, hobby or purists out here actually associated with perfumery. Through Basenotes, I've actually LEARNED how to smell, appreciate and differentiate between niche and designer brands; been directed to the exquisite smells of the vast perfumes of the world; got my family & friends recognizing me as the one they love to sidle up to because of my wearing of "expensive, exotic colognes." Let's face it, gentlemen. The average Joe is NOT going to drop the wad of cash as we on our peculiar "toys." You have Corvette clubs, hunt clubs, bowling leagues----and we have ours. Also, you are fibbing if you say you aren't HOOKED. ROTFLMAO!! All of us peek in and eventually join thinking we are just curious and won't become addicted. YOU ARE!!! LOL
My Starting Lineup: MI, Pure Malt, GIT, LIDGE, Clive Christian C, LaNuit, Royal Oud, Aventus, CH Men, L'Humaniste, VIW, D & G PH, Jardin d' Amalfi, DHI, Clive Christian X,, Bentley Intense, Bois du Portugal. Signature Scent: Chambre Noire
I wear fragrance to distract myself from peoples overuse of question marks.
Initially, I was a one cologne kind of guy.. Frags were something i neglected until literally 5 months ago.. Sure, i use to dabble in my dads collection throughout the years and during high/middle school i was gifted the usual suspect Tommy, Michael Jordan etc.. But i never took it serious until the age of 27.
And as a 27 year old, i have yet to really get in the art of frags, but i do like to smell good and appeal to the opposite sex at the same time. So I don't think I'm quite yet ready to explore wear things that aren't appealing to the average women's nose, hence the reason I like frags that are universally "sex in bottles"
Current Top 5:
2. Oud Wood
4. By. Kilian A Taste of heaven
5. Frederic Malle- Musc Ravageur
I hated the "barbershop" smell, and wanted to be different back in college, so I bought a bottle of Aramis 900.
Later, I became obsessed with sandalwood and a Google search led to basenotes...
With basenotes, I learned that there was a whole world of non-aquatic fragrances out there.(thank God!)
Today, I wear perfume mostly to entertain myself, and it is a good conversation starter with just about everyone.
My, for several reasons. Mainly because I like the smell and I enjoy the habit of collecting. Also, it's good to leave a good first impression and I like getting compliments, but they aren't the main reasons.
It makes me feel happy, clean and ...............................................
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
Clarice Lispector ( 1920-1977) - Perfumes da Terra / Earth Perfumes
As a mood enhancer.
I like to smell good. The compliments are a bonus.
Mood enhancer, to smell good, own enjoyment yet compliments are surely welcomed and appreciating an art form!
I agree with all of those who said something along those lines.
It's a form of self expression for me to wear scent, just the same as it is to wear clothes, but also I find the variety of fabulous scents pleasurable. It's not for other people to enjoy or comment upon, since I spent the vast majority of my day alone and the dog doesn't care what I smell of.
There's another aspect which is that I can't afford to buy posh clothes, lots of art work, expensive house things or a flash lifestyle, but I can afford to smell good, even if that's bought one part-used bottle or sample at a time.
To stimulate the senses, make me feel good, and makes other people around me feel good.
I like to smell good, it makes me feel good and more confident.
I remember a day I put Bvlgari Blv and visited my friend. Someone smelled it and asked me in private to give him the frag name so that he buys it because he liked it.
Pleasure and attention.
Almost entirely for my own pleasure and interest. If others enjoy what I'm wearing, that's an added bonus.
I like to smell it. That's one of the frustrating things...trying to figure out the best places to spray to allow me to enjoy it the longest without olfactory fatigue.
Same reason I wear clothes. Feel rather naked or improperly attired without it.
hide my scent from the FBI
-Pleasure I get from smelling them on me, it brightens my mood
-The experience/journey of discovering new fragrances
-Added bonus: Smelling great, receiving compliments, and girlfriend nuzzling constantly
Current obsession...Invasion Barbare
Style and soul.
It's like another way of decorating my own personal space. I like the smell. If others compliment me, that's nice but not necessary.
I'd be interested to hear the responses if the same question were asked of 50 "normal" people out on the street. Would their answers be different?
1st I like to smell good to my own nose. I enjoy good smells - like docluv45 wrote: Pleasure.
If the smell also pleases people around me, good, but it's not necessary to me.

Why does a lady enjoy the smell of a flower on a beautiful spring day?
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
I like to smell good. I enjoy it . Basically I feel missing something if I don't wear a fragrance , which rarely happens anyway.
Mostly because I just enjoy fragrances.
