Default Millesime Imperial vs. Allure Homme Sport & Bleu de Chanel

Hey all, was going to ask you for your opinion on this --

I need to decide between Millesime Imperial OR Allure Homme Sport + Bleu de Chanel for this summer.

Decided not to go w/ GIT due to the similarities shared by Cool Water.. not going to pay $120+ just for it to be mistaken by others as a $30 frag

Personally of those three choices I would chose the MI without hesitation.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)

Would it be safe to purchase as a blind buy? Unfortunately, I've only had the opportunity to smell AHS and BdC. However, I've only heard great things about MI.

MI for sure. One of the best summer scents.

Why would it bother you if someone mistook your GIT for Cool Water? As long as you like the smell who cares. BTW GIT smells 10x better than Cool Water.

Thanks for the feedback guys. But back to my previous question -- would it be a safe blind buy?
& would it be good for a college student?

MI by a million miles, but no blind buy is ever guaranteed to hit the spot. I'd still sample first.

It's about as safe a blind buy as you'll find for a 100$ plus fragerance. It's also suitable for almost anyone, certainly for a college student.

LOL, I've heard this one before. That's what worries me. Why pay $100+ when I can spend 1/4 of that to smell the same to others? Surely I'll be the only one who can tell the difference..

    Touché.

You're going to pay around $150 online for a 4oz bottle, at that price I don't think there is a safe blind buy. It is a fairly well liked fragrance, but try and sample it first.

Why buy a Rolex when you can get a "Bolex" for $10?
Why buy real Oakley's when you can get fakes for a fraction of the cost?
Why buy Cool Water when you can get the dollar store "our version of cool water" for a buck?

As much as GIT/Cool Water and MI/Unforgivable are compared to one another, the 2 Creeds are on a whole other level quality wise.

So true, to people who have smelled hundreds of fragrances, GIT and MI are on whole different tiers. There are always going to be knockoffs and imitations of everything, but when you go to bed and wake up everyday, you know what you're using and you'll appreciate the quality products that you have paid for. And in due time, you will quite easily be able to tell the difference between true luxury items and knockoffs.

Honestly they're all good, just get samples and then YOU decide.

If I had to choose, I'd get Bleu de Chanel for starters. You really can't go wrong with that for a good summer frag.

Lasts long, smells fresh, great for college students, and you'll get tons of compliments.

I'm going to go against the majority here and say AHS and BdC. If they all three were against each other, I'd take MI. But the fact is you can get both BdC and AHS so that would be my vote. All three are solid fragrances though, I'd probably side with MI if it had the proper longevity.

LOL. Now Chanel fragrances are comparable to Dollar store knockoffs. The Creed snobbery gets a bit ridiculous at times.

GIT does not smell enough like CW to avoid buying it, IMO. Especially when it can be had for as little as $73.00 at lilydirect.com.

Price is no longer a good reason not to buy Creed. There are many lesser/popular/common colognes today that are equal to or more than the price you would pay for Creed at the online fragrance discounters.

Buy MI, and never blind buy. All the people in this thread who have said they don't like MI are the perfect example of why you should never blind buy.
Basenotes sales: Many collectible/discontinued CREEDs (Angelique Encens, Citrus Bigarrade, Selection Verte), Himalaya & other Basenotes favorites (Xerjoff Uden, Spicebomb, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Heeley Oranges & Lemons, L'Artisan Batucada) http://www.basenotes.net/threads/340...emons-Batucada

Offsite sales: Collectible CREEDs (Vintage Tabarome Private Collection, Angelique Encens, Selection Verte, Citrus Bigarrade), Pure White Cologne, Himalaya & other Basenotes favorites (Xerjoff Uden, Spicebomb, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Heeley Oranges & Lemons, L'Artisan Batucada) http://flacon.ambaric.net/viewtopic.php?t=260 and http://flacon.ambaric.net/viewtopic.php?t=626

Yup. All of what he said.

And MI is the best smelling cologne of all time to me, so yeah, I'd say that would win a smell test among the three colognes in this thread.
    Current Top Five:

    1. Creed Green Irish Tweed

MI is the one Creed I have tried that almost lives up to the hype. Having said that, it's a bit of a gamble in that there seems to be some real inconsistencies from one batch to another. "On" batches smell great, "off" batches lack top notes and seem to smell extra salt watery. I have not experienced this myself but I've heard of many people being put off by the bad batches. For MI's considerable price tag, this inconsistency is pretty outrageous if true. My initial suspicion was that the people complaining of these batches had bought fakes but I know of at least one person who bought off of FragranceNet (which I think is very reliable) and got a bottle from an off batch.

+ 1. Although I really like the smell, MI just isn't worth the price.
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:

Wearing AHS as SOTD from a sample, may be a possible buy, seems very fitting for summer.

For me - MI murders the other two easily. I'd also suggest trying GIT and CW back to back - they're very different if you let 10 minutes pass.

I own and enjoy Bleu De Chanel as well as Millesime Imperial, but there is no real contest there for me. I tend to use MI when it's warmer, Bleu when it's colder - but MI is miles ahead when it comes to quality - at least for me.

I'd go with Bleu de Chanel. MI is the better overall smell but just doesnt have the staying power to jusitfy the price IMO. Bleu last a long time, its popular with the ladies and cost much less. Like someone else has said if you want the MI smell just get Unforgivable, to the average nose its almost exactly the same.

I wouldn't spend that amount of cash on it personally.
I do think that Allure Homme Sport is the worst male scent Chanel have ever come up with so that would be out of the question for me. I don't think Bleu is wonderful either but I think it's a pretty decent scent that most would be quite happy with for the summer.

Millesime Imperial is one of the most pleasant smelling frags out there. Its sexy, sophisticated, and fresh.

I got sick of hearing about all the comparisons with sean john. i bought a used bottle of unforgivable off of ebay for about $15. It smells like a rotten, sour version of MI. Not pleasant in the least.
