    Default Anything like Neutrogena T-Gel

Hey guys I am a wierd guy who always liked the smell of T-Gel dandruff shampoo, and was wondering if you knew any fragrance close to it. If you haven't smelled it do yourself a favor and use it just once if you can. It smells like an oily tar powerhouse. If you smell it once you will never forget it.

The only thing I can think of is Eau De Fier by Annick Goutal, but hard to track down.

Bitch tar, which had a similar smell, has been banned from perfumes (which explains the disappearance of Eau Du Fier), so there's not much like that exactly. Knize Ten perhaps comes closest, it's a leather with a clear tar-automotive vibe. The drydown of Bandit also has some of the feel, though the top of Bandit is very green.

I like that smell. They were laying tar on our street recently it was all I could do to refrain from prostrating myself and glueing my nose to the gooey tarmac! Good question.

    That sir, is a quote.

Cuir de Russie might help you out but it's more aldehyde than tar.

Knize Ten... has more than a passing similarity
Well, it's cheaper than therapy... edit: No it's not...

What I got from Sartorial (on test paper) had, funnily enough, a lot of the full-on pungency of T-Gel (no smoke, though). Hmm. T-Gel, then vintage Brut. I think I'm going to have to try Sartorial again. My out-and-out loathing for it might indicate that I actually... like it.

The T-Gel conditioner is anti-dandruff nowadays, though it didn't used to be.
Have they changed the T-gel shampoo to be anti-dandruff where you live? That would be a shame as I wouldn't buy it any more.

As far as I know Renato T-Gel has always been clinical strength shampoo for people with dandruff and other scalp problems. You aren't even supposed to use it everyday.

Yea, Knize Ten is a Tar and Leather Monster...it projects and lasts like crazy...It isn't coal tar which is the smell in T Gel, but it is Tar.

It's great stuff for itchy bits on the scalp caused for all sorts of reasons, just like other tar shampoos that are around. But it's only been about 7 or 8 years ago that they added the typical anti-dandruff chemicals found in anti-dandruff shampoos into their conditioner. Last time I looked though, those chemicals hadn't been added to the shampoo. I have a problem with all those anti-dandruff chemicals because - they give me something that looks like bad dandruff, but is actually psoriasis that has been set off. So I avoid them like the plague.

I must say, I'm most amused as to how that scent has grabbed you. Fair enough though, if you like it, you like it.
    Cheers,
    Renato

No doubt, that stuff is formidable!

Comme des Garcons has one actually called Tar, but I've never smelled it. Anybody else?

Tauer's Incense Extreme doesn't smell like T-Gel, but to me it smells like when you're digging out a campfire the next morning, all that black charred wood and ash. Not tar obviously, but I think it's a similar effect.

My brother used to use T-Gel for his psoriasis, I always felt bad for him having to put that crap on, the way it smells. Anyways, if you have some money to play with try Black Afgano. You can get a $10 sample on Luckyscent, it's $185 for a full bottle. I haven't personally tried it, but from descriptions it sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

To me, Tuscan Leather smells a little like T-Gel shampoo.
