I think the more pertinent question is, what's the best male fragrance for Dogs? It's a question that's haunted me for literally seconds.
Dogs usually don't like them. Their noses are too sensitive.
It took 35 years but I never doubted the truth would someday come to light. And imagine,Polo did it without Royal Pineapple. Congratulations Ralph. Well done.

you know, all kidding aside, ive often thought polo (the original, not the current juice) was the top of the food chain. i tend to like all things ralph lauren. im just wired up like that. and, more importantly, when i was young there was a HUGE phenomenon of polo being over worn by every man, woman, and especially children in my neck of the woods. everyone had polo. there was no other cologne being worn, it was just a massive social movement. in 1981 the berkshires absolutely reeked of polo.i was in 4th grade, and i remember countless kids being sent to the bathrooms to wash it off. i just always assumed that polo was as big a HIT everywhere else in the world as it was in my little corner of it. and it really did smell great. i wish i could get my hands on a bottle of the old stuff.
Polo might come close, but then again, I'd say it's anyone's personal "top range", "dream team", usually consisting of not one, but a few or even multiple favorite fragrances (all in all, I think that it's a very subjective issue which specific scent is one's favorite, thus ranked, as such, among the best).
Well that was an education! I guess we can close Basenotes' Male Fragrance Discussion now. Thanks for the memories, all.
Smelling good on a budget!
Regarding the reformulation, it was not a drastic one. It is still a powerhouse, with the same middle and basenotes. Only the topnotes were changed. I still wear polo regularly, it reminds me of my youth.
Couldn't be. Nope.... There aren't a Bazillion threads about how it's label peals, which batch sucks, how it's sprayer nozzle sqeaks like two old people having sex on a rusty mattress, or whether the pine note is "Royal" or not...
I'm confused. I thought it was supposed to be Burberry London.
i like it for nostalgia too. it reminds me of my youth for sure! but i find on initial whiff that its very different. maybe im more prone to smell the top notes, but i get a strong feeling that something isnt right and its drastically different than how i remember. its probably all in my head and it smells the same...
I m glad you added the "for men" to your thread title.
"what is the best male fragrance" would surely be lacking the point of your thread and create confusion along members.
I probably would have recommended a bunch of female fragrances if the title was only "what is the best male fragrance"
here is my favorite ones.
Thierry Mugler Pure Havane
CReed Green irish Tweed
Amouage Epic, you can't get more manly than this
Creed Cuir de Russie and Knize Ten.
I love D&G The one for men!!!
