Default Frapin 1697 vs. 1697 absolu de parfum

I've enquired about this previously with not much success.
Forgetting about price, concentration, sillage, projection and development..do they smell the same???
Anyone with experience with both please chime in.

i dare post without knowing them - i believe forgetting all other aspects they would very likely smell the same. the latter is several times more expensive, i think it was limited edition anyway.... most likely sale gimmicks. the current regular offering should be no worse, and if i were interested, wouid not have investigated the first bottling.

I think Scent said that the difference was minimal and he'd be happy with the EDP has he not gotten the absolue.

I have samples of both, and they smell pretty much the same.

I prefer the EDP, it lets the notes breathe. The Absolu is so concentrated that the notes feel really compressed and they take a long time to unfold. Not that I need instant gratification but I lost patience with the Absolu, by the time it had settled down is was mostly a skin scent.
