If we are vanilla lovers and want something that smells luscious for even daytime use (but mostly for cold days or nights), which scent would you recommend? Something mainstream would be nice, and not overly priced please.
Is DH Intense (current version) good for this occasion? What would you think?
DHI is already a good choice, I'd also suggest testing Fahrenheit 32 by Dior, the variations and concentrations of Jaipur Homme, Givenchy Pi and Caron pour un Homme - while also mentioning that some of these may be stronger, yet with the right application of the sprays used, they can still develop into something very smooth, subtle, suave while drying down.
I enjoy the vanilla/lemon combination of HM by Hanae Mori. Pretty underrated scent for how cheap it is (like $34 for 100mL). I wore this for a month or more straight back when I was new to scents, and I enjoyed it and pretty much know it back to front now.
Absolu de Vanille by La Maison de La Vanille
DHI isn't a straight forward vanilla scent at all, in fact it's more a part of the background. If you're looking for more straightforward vanilla scents here are a few. Otherwise DHI is a very nice one.
Comptoir de Pacifique Vanilla Extreme
7 Billion Hearts
Eau Duelle by Diptyque
“Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?”
Spiritueuse Double Vanille is the best candidate but it's pricey.
midnight in paris (designer)
Michael Jordan Legend and DHI.
Jaipur is a good suggestion.
Spiritueuse Double Vanille except it's expensive, Gaultier 2, to a lesser extent Givenchy Pi, Bulgari Black for something with a hint of brawniness, A Men Pure Havane (trying it today for the first time and I love it), Gaultier Le Male, John Varvatos by John Varvatos, it's a long list.
Midnight in Paris.
Guerlain Spiritueuese Double Vanille is the best out there IMO, but it is not mainstream and it is expensive.
+1 Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain
For something mainstream, try:
Eau des Baux by L'Occitane
Givenchy Play Intense by Givenchy
Rochas Man by Rochas
and +1 A*Men Pure Havane by Thierry Mugler
Bulgari Black and Lolita Lempicka au Masculin are two inexpensive vanilla bombs by the great Annick Menardo.
Yeah, I think the best suggestion is the Diptyque above, especially for daytime wear. It reminded me of the 4-times-as-expensive Creed Sublime Vanille.
My personal choice would be vintage Habit Rouge Eau de Cologne by Guerlain.
"Until you practice surrender, the spiritual dimension is something you read about, talk about, get excited about, write books about, think about, believe in — or don’t, as the case may be. It makes no difference. Not until you surrender does it become a living reality in your life."

+ HM by Hanae Mori. I get lots of vanilla and nothing beats price/quality of it
+4 or whatevs on Guerlain SDV. IMHO, it's the best vanilla; it smells so damn good.
The dry down to Musc Ravageur is probably the creamiest I've smelled..
also Eau Duelle by Diptyque is straight vanilla cream all the way through.
Current Top 5:
2. Byredo Bal d'Afrique
4. Ambre Nuit
5. Portrait of A Lady
5t. Xerjoff Uden
There is no other creamy vanilla like Vanitas by Profumum. It is sweet without actually being sweet.
Good suggestions above. M Micallef's Vanille Aoud is fantastic, if an eastern twist is required. The fem classification is a bit off.
ointments and perfume delight the heart....
Actually, Egoiste is uber creamy smooth to me. Maybe even a little too smooth - the first time I smelt it, it kind of washed over me, it is so well blended there was no 'hook' note to catch my attention. I remember my initial reaction was "buttery potpourri".
After several more years of being into this hobby and having my nose assaulted by various mainstream dreck, I really appreciate its smoothness.
