If we are vanilla lovers and want something that smells luscious for even daytime use (but mostly for cold days or nights), which scent would you recommend? Something mainstream would be nice, and not overly priced please.
Is DH Intense (current version) good for this occasion? What would you think?
DHI is already a good choice, I'd also suggest testing Fahrenheit 32 by Dior, the variations and concentrations of Jaipur Homme, Givenchy Pi and Caron pour un Homme - while also mentioning that some of these may be stronger, yet with the right application of the sprays used, they can still develop into something very smooth, subtle, suave while drying down.
I enjoy the vanilla/lemon combination of HM by Hanae Mori. Pretty underrated scent for how cheap it is (like $34 for 100mL). I wore this for a month or more straight back when I was new to scents, and I enjoyed it and pretty much know it back to front now.

Absolu de Vanille by La Maison de La Vanille
DHI isn't a straight forward vanilla scent at all, in fact it's more a part of the background. If you're looking for more straightforward vanilla scents here are a few. Otherwise DHI is a very nice one.
Comptoir de Pacifique Vanilla Extreme
7 Billion Hearts
Imagine there were no hypothetical situations.
Pomegranate Noir 100 ml, 95% full no box - $90

Eau Duelle by Diptyque
“Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?”
Spiritueuse Double Vanille is the best candidate but it's pricey.
midnight in paris (designer)
Michael Jordan Legend and DHI.
Jaipur is a good suggestion.
Spiritueuse Double Vanille except it's expensive, Gaultier 2, to a lesser extent Givenchy Pi, Bulgari Black for something with a hint of brawniness, A Men Pure Havane (trying it today for the first time and I love it), Gaultier Le Male, John Varvatos by John Varvatos, it's a long list.
Midnight in Paris.
Guerlain Spiritueuese Double Vanille is the best out there IMO, but it is not mainstream and it is expensive.
+1 Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain
For something mainstream, try:
Eau des Baux by L'Occitane
Givenchy Play Intense by Givenchy
Rochas Man by Rochas
and +1 A*Men Pure Havane by Thierry Mugler
Bulgari Black and Lolita Lempicka au Masculin are two inexpensive vanilla bombs by the great Annick Menardo.
Yeah, I think the best suggestion is the Diptyque above, especially for daytime wear. It reminded me of the 4-times-as-expensive Creed Sublime Vanille.
My personal choice would be vintage Habit Rouge Eau de Cologne by Guerlain.
"One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple"
-- Jack Kerouac
+ HM by Hanae Mori. I get lots of vanilla and nothing beats price/quality of it
+4 or whatevs on Guerlain SDV. IMHO, it's the best vanilla; it smells so damn good.
It's been a long hot Summer in Sydney, looking forward to Winter & wearing vanilla fragrances.
The dry down to Musc Ravageur is probably the creamiest I've smelled..
also Eau Duelle by Diptyque is straight vanilla cream all the way through.
Current Top 5:
2. Oud Wood
4. By. Kilian A Taste of heaven
5. Frederic Malle- Musc Ravageur
There is no other creamy vanilla like Vanitas by Profumum. It is sweet without actually being sweet.
Good suggestions above. M Micallef's Vanille Aoud is fantastic, if an eastern twist is required. The fem classification is a bit off.
ointments and perfume delight the heart....
Actually, Egoiste is uber creamy smooth to me. Maybe even a little too smooth - the first time I smelt it, it kind of washed over me, it is so well blended there was no 'hook' note to catch my attention. I remember my initial reaction was "buttery potpourri".
After several more years of being into this hobby and having my nose assaulted by various mainstream dreck, I really appreciate its smoothness.

I'd add YSL Opium pH edp.
Simplex Sigillum Veri
What does Midnight in Paris smell like? Which would be more sensual for nighttime use, that or DH Intense? I've never smelled either.
for a seasoned nose, once you try the pricy vanille by di orio you may not like to wear another vanilla afterwords.
Habit Rouge Beau Cavalier. Vanilla with a creamy oud quality.

Tomorrow, tomorrow my wait will be over! Cuir Beluga should arrive to my door. Been longing for this vanilla since a super kind basenoter included a sample of it with a swap last year.
Cuir Beluga is FANTASTIC.
With all due respect, di Oro is spicy/earthy and Eau Duelle is spicy vanilla rather than smooth/creamy.
I put Cuir Beluga and SDV in the smooth creamy category.
Of the stuff I've smelled, and that's really not a lot, I like D&G the one, YSL La Nuit De L'homme, HM, Creed VIW, V&R spicebomb. Those may not have vanilla but efintely get a creamy and delicious vibe with all of them
Guerlain Habit Rouge EDT
Some folks like their vanillas very vanilla (SDV is this...with booze added), and others just want the vanilla to be a featured player but not the overwhelming. OP depends what you're looking for in vanillas.
My favorite vanillas or scents that contain vanilla:
1. Dior Homme Intense
2. Cuir Beluga
3. Spiritueuse Double Vanille
4. Midnight in Paris
Definitely Eau Duelle
My current top ten:
1. Spice and Wood
2. Noir De Noir
3. Musc Ravageur
4. Bois D'Argent
5. Aoud 1
8. Dior Homme Intense
9. Tobacco Vanille
Any of these ones that are easy to get? More on the designer than niche?
I don't really wanna deal online, and being from Vancouver, I feel like I have very limited options as to where to buy in person.
there is a store for niche in vancouver called "the perfume shoppe". go there and ask them for vanillas. they might be expensive though. they have montales so ask them about montale's vanille absolue (i have personally not tried this one).
if you want vanilla like that is affordable, try givenchy pi.
Guerlains SDV for the first hour or so is fantastic with it's complex boozy vanilla which really is intoxicating. Unfortunately after that wonderful opening it becomes thin and bland for the rest of it's life. If only that boozy opening could last until the drydown as this frag would be a must buy at all costs. But alas it's not imo.
Smoothe & creamy: Eau Duelle, Jaipur Homme, Vanilla Insensee.
Woody & dry: 7 Billion Hearts, Un Bois Vanille
Smokey & Dark: Spiriteuse Double Vanille, Mona di Orio Vanille, Tobacco Vanille
M. Micallef - Note Vanille.
Eau Duelle great scent but there is no silage
Try Pegasus - parfums de Marly great clean vanilla with beast longevity and projection

Vintage Emeraude by a mile.
A lot of great vanilla fragrances out there (GSDV, TV, Cuir Beluga, etc), but for a more straight-up vanilla, I like Creed Sublime Vanille the best. There is a little tonka in there to give it some depth, but the vanilla is more center stage than most other great ones.
Try a sample of Parfums de Marly 'Safanad'. Very smooth, nice vanilla. A bit like Tobacco Vanilla, but I think it's better.
Best vanilla scents I have put my nose on are Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Art Collection 102 by Micallef. Both are very expensive though.

I Love New York For All
By Kilian - A Taste of Heaven - one of the creamiest vanillas I have experienced (lot of lavender along for the ride too, but that is one creamy vanilla - delicious...)
Well, it's cheaper than therapy... edit: No it's not...
I believe you are looking for Givenchy Pi
Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.
Although I'm not a fan of sweet, cloying synth-sugar trainwrecks (such as Givenchy Pi), I'm into perfumes that put a twist on the note (Eau Duelle, for example). A couple more that haven't been mentioned: Parfumerie Generale's Indochine and, for a unique cheapy, Tokyo Milk's Dead Sexy. Be warned though, the latter smells like pencil erasers. Delicious pencil erasers, though.
If you want a lustful vanilla with smooth honey and tobacco then you need to try Back to Black - By Kilian. You'll be spending most of your money on the packaging if you go for the full bottle, so if you're not bothered about that then you are better off getting the 50ml refill for a much lower price, which you can fill into your own atomiser.
You may want to check out the new 7 Billion Hearts from CB I Hate Perfume.
Dior Homme Intense, Pure Havane and Costume National 21.
My most favorite scents that I can't be without:
Givenchy Xeryus Rouge
Dior Homme Intense
