Default Most disappointing releases of 2012?

I'm curious, what do you all think are the worst/most disappointing fragrances for men (or unisex) of 2012?

I didn't really try many new releases, but the ones I did try were very good, so I'm interested to see what everyone else's experiences were like.

    I agree. Such a disappointment.
    My current favorites:

Bleu De Chanel, Creed Green Irish Tweed, Zino Davidoff, Dior Homme Intense, Creed Royal Oud, M7 (all versions), Chanel Egoiste, Dior Homme Sport, and Thierry Mugler Pure Malt.

Agree (Al-Khatt in particular really was a dud to my nose). I'll add Eau Sauvage Parfum which was a terrible insult to its classic namesake, IMO.

    1) Portrait of a Lady (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

The Tom Ford Jardin Noir line, especially the underwhelming Cafe Rose.

Also, A*Men Pure Leather. It's a near clone of the original A*Men.

On my skin, yes. On the skin of one of my coworkers, it's more like Pure Malt than the original. Funny how skin chemistry can change things.

This has become one of my favorite scents, maybe even top five. I was disappointed with the rest of the Jardin Noir line, though.

The most disappointing for me was probably TF Noir. I bought a bottle right after it came out, but I regretted it.
I was also disappointed with ELDO's Dangerous Complicity.
    Current Top Five:
    1. Bois des Iles--Chanel
    2. George Sand--Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
    3. L'Ame Soeur--Divine
    4. Violet Blonde--Tom Ford
    5. Santal Blush--Tom Ford

Very disappointed with MFK Oud. Interesting, but just not a very nice smell, annoying. Really was expecting something fine.
I really thought Grossmith Golden Chypre was going to be wonderful because of a few things I heard. Decent, but far from wonderful.

I also had just one batch number that was off. It was like bf6983....uh...7.....something. Oh I can't remember.

In terms of longevity and projection, on my skin at least, Essenza walks all over the masterpiece. Destroys it. I get 10 hours out of it. And I love how it smells and what it does for my mood.

Not trying to be an a$$. Just offering a contrary opinion in case any noobs (like me) might otherwise pass up trying Essenza based on negative comments here.

If nothing else, at least you don't have to spray til your finger hurts to so much as catch the odd whiff after a couple of hours, which has been precisely my experience with the vast majority of current formulation fragrances I have tried recently (Kouros, Yatagan, Le Male, A*Men, Cool Water and 1 Million aside). What a pathetic joke (IMHO) a lot of today's fragrances are in terms of longevity and projection, which brings me full circle to the beginning of my post.

Boss Bottled Sport- not even a bad fragrance, yet so underwhelming, even in comparison to other fragrances from this house.

Too much of an inoffensive (wannabe) crowd-pleaser, at least in my opinion, to make an impression.

Well, I really like DG The One but it gives me headache every single time I try it. I don't expect much from "sport" fragrances but I thought this would be sth close to original without that note which gives me headache. Turned out that it's not close to original and awful. Doesn't give me headache though

    That's a 2011 release...and rather wonderful, IMO [/QUOTE]

Kokorico wasn't launched in the US until 2012, and even then, at Macy's stores in limited markets only. (Beauté Prestige International/Shiseido is known to do this on occasion; for example, Gaultier2 was launched in the US in 2006, one year after the rest of the world.) So you could still call Kokorico a 2012 release if you lived in the US.

Another stinker from 2012: Gucci Guilty Intense. The original was bad enough, but this was even worse (and sadly, I have a friend that is addicted to this stuff).

Eau Sauvage Parfum - funny it's getting bad rep, but I think I know why... Because of its name, everyone keeps comparing it to the original Eau Sauvage, expecting EDP or Parfum strength of the classic. That's the one big mistake Dior made with releasing this one - it should have been named something completely different as it's not a flanker of Eau Sauvage at all, it's a totally unique scent altogether. On its own, it is really quite interesting. You just have to discard the association with Eau Sauvage and start with an open mind.

I actually like ADG Essenza. To me, it's like a more concentrated version of the original's base notes. In fact, this one's on my buy list for this summer. As an aside, I also don't get the hate for JPG's Kokorico either. Sure, it's unusual in its mix of earthy notes and cocoa, but I kind of like it and find it intriguing.
