I hadn't checked yet. Another Amouage going down the drain. At this point, one must assume that all Amouages have been ruined, unless verified otherwise.

Please tell me this isn't the case!!!
Not another one going down the drain. I thought Amouage was a stable niche brand that doesn't change ingredients and so on.

Holding on to my bottle from last year then with a tight grip!!

@change1 - it certainly happened to Homage, Gold Woman & Ubar, but I'm not up to date these days.

If anyone actually knows whether it's just due to compliance, ingredient issues or something else - please share.

The EEC/IFRA regulatory changes seem to be causing widespread havoc at present - suggest watching the Erwin Creed interview for some practical info. on how people are trying to adapt.

This is just typical. I have a bottle from Dec 2012 (purchased from Harrods). I'm not sure if this is old or new but my SO recently gave me an Epic compliment on this, about 9 hours after I put it on. She demanded I wear it again the next day.

If this has indeed been reformulated I'm gonna be writing a rude letter to Amouage!!!

The IFRA be damned! I really wish companies would tell these bastards to go pound sound.
We don't need any more of this Big Nanny Brother regulating what should be personal choices. It's all about control. Look at that little douchebag Bloomberg in NYC for example. What a POS he is! We need to stop taking this BS!

Well, the EEC is prob. the worse problem to start with, but it appears that the confusing bit is they all keep changing things.

@rum - I think things have altered this year, but It's not something I'm really up with

Zero chance I will believe a reformulation has taken place unless some other people do a side by side comparision. Some people are just more reliable for me ....and others are just fuzzy and strange and I sometimes really wonder about their posts ( and how sane they are.....I digress....).
Seeking: Bottles/decants : of Feeling Man, Gucci pour Homme, Essence of John Galliano, Nicole Miller (vintage), Opium pour Homme, Oxford & Cambridge...etc.

Seeking decant/sample of Jil Sander Feeling Man, Cacharel Nemo, Bijan for Men EDC, Lanvin for Men, Giorgio VIP, Il Lancetti and other old school frags ....etc. I have samples to swap.

IFRA regulations aside the cynic in me says reformulations are a common marketing ploy to maximise profits by reducing the cost of costly ingredients. They make a new fragrance using the best ingredients and couple this with a expensive marketing campaign to draw the customers in. Once you have success then reformulate the product using cheaper ingredients knowing most consumers will not notice or care enough to complain. And then when profits drop they just launch a flanker with a marketing campaign for renewed interest.

But does that explain why Epic Man is supposedly reformulated...if it is at all ? I would really need to read more testimonials from some reliable BNers.

IFRA, as demonic as they apparently are, are not responsible for all reformulations. You cannot just point the finger at them. I am very paranoid about reformulations, whether I like the fragrance or not. But there needs to be some reasonable proof. It is just like Montale ( which I noticed you pointed out IFRA compliance). How do you know ? The reason why I ask this is because it really is not certain whether or not the fragrances are really all that much changed ( Trebor makes some good points in that thread)

Perhaps you, or some other reliable B/n'ers, would like to do some comparisons & let us know then please?

I just offered some freely available info., but totally accept that we can all make our own minds up about what we choose to believe - and whilst compliance will not be responsible for every change it certainly appears to be a major factor at present, together with economics.

Maybe it's just my bottle, but it does smell watered down... the rich intense opening is not there in my bottle..

The code at the bottom of my bottle is 000148201112... can someone decode this number and let me know when my bottle was made? Thanks

It is sad, but it offers nothing to this thread - maybe she likes stronger perfumes, maybe she is anosmic to something in there, has she smelt earlier versions etc.

It probably smells the same. No big deal if it doesn't. It's basically the same loud "men's cologne" thing as Bleu de Chanel, but Bleu de Chanel is a lot better.

Does anyone know if there is a slight change in the packaging too?
In other words, how do I know which bottle I am buying? I have a 50ml now,
Love it and would love to get a first version 100ml..

The code under the bottle I got last month is 18191070812, it smells 'almost' exactly the same to the smell of the decant I got months ago, both last me the whole day.

My bottle of EM smells a little less intense and spicy, but still louder than most commercial fragrance.

Honestly, I wish they'd reformulate Interlude Man. Weaken it a little and back off the oregano! Interlude Man lasts 36+ hours on my skin and at least a week, if not two, on any clothes that came in contact with it (but did NOT directly spray). Crazy longevity. I'd prefer if Interlude Man reached its base after 6 hours. It takes soooooo much longer than that on my skin. And it's so strong that 2 sprays can be too much.

I just spoke of this in the discount forum. Just received a bottle from Lily Direct. Great price, but smells like nothing and is barely a skin scent. My box was not shrink-wrapped, so I thought maybe was up. Wrote them, but have not heard back yet.

Montale, Amouage, they all are doing it.

Some term it as batch variations, others call them reformulation or formula tweaks.

This just goes on to show you, no matter how good or bad a perfume is in its sales
sooner or later, due to economics, various standard and absorption costing schedules,
IFRA regulations, a whimsical creative head etc, every perfume designer or niche,
WILL be ALTERED with or DISCONTINUED or TWEAKED.

So if you like a fragrance, and see yourself reaching out for it more than twice a week
(assuming you have 75+ bottles) dont hesitate and buy a backup of it, thats what I
always do and frankly when they change it doesnt bother me that much, because I
know Im pretty much set for life.
