Default Bois D'Orage vs Bois du Portugal. Who wins?

Compare sillage, projection, bottle, price and overall quality of the scent

Bois Du Pourtugal. Sampled Bois D' Orange a while back. Not as good as Portugal IMO.

    Bois du Portugal.

I would like to see a Bois d'Orage vs Creed Spice & Wood poll though. Those two scents are much more similar.

Bois d'Orage. Very relaxing sunday scent. I like Bois du Portugal too but it loses on sillage projection and quality. Dont care about bottle. Price is probably similar.

I have become addicted to Bois d'Orage. Most know it as French Lover I think.

Think both are great as I own both. I give the edge to the Creed.

They are both wonderful in their own right. I see them fitting different places in my collection.

It would be tough, but I prefer BdP.

Bois du Portugal although the Lavender can get a tad sharp for me.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Between the two, Bois d'Orage, although it has some rotten potatoes top notes that you may not like.

I think bois d'orage aka french lover is far better - although they are too different to really compare

BDP seemed richer and more complex. I love the elegance that it portrays.

The opening of BDO is *gold but IMO it falls apart soon after.

Has both, and love French Lover, it's unique and very well made with good projection and importantly the longevity is great.

where as for the BdP, there's nothing within it that i find it special, which it's why my bottle of BdP's sitting there collecting dust.

For those who don't find Bois du Portugal a winner, it isn't Bois du Portugal's fault..

This must be one of the very rare instances where I see myself giving an edge to the Creed. I'm with thatmakesscent here. The opening of BdO is stupendous, all one might want to have in a traditional masculine. Then this sharp note comes out (a woody amber) and ruins everything.

Bois d' Orage is best, imo. Bois du Portugal is too sweet and out of step with this century.

Where do you find sweet in Bois du Portugal? It's dry spicy woods.

    Then why vote?

I vote Bois Du Portugal. While not my cup of tea, Bois d'Orage was very forgettable.

I find the woods very sweet in BdP . . . far too sweet and very claustrophobic. The composition has no space or life to it, like a closed oak trunk filled with baby powder.

If you think BdP is dry spicy woods, I wonder what you'd think of scents like Azzaro Visit, Cuba Red, or Jasper Conran Mister.

BdO is a little harsh but it's a great angelica concept.

This is how bois du portugal smells to me. This is all opinion here. I "find sweet in Bois du Portugal" in the lavender + ambergris in the base. It's good, and I enjoyed it 15 years ago, but I like Bois d' Orage more now. The two are not that similar to each other so comparing the two is kind of pointless.

Yes, it seems to be based on the name which is not a great criterion
