Default Looking to buy my 2nd Cologne, for summer. Help?

So I have "The Golden Secret" as my first cologne, I like it but don't love it. This summer I am going to be somewhere hot and outside most of the time. I am a skinny tall guy, very confident laid back and kind of have a firey/passionate personality.
I am new to cologne, but I love the idea of making this a hobby. Is a citrus scent girly? I don't want to smell like hairspray lol. Just kind of want some guidance when I am hitting up a department store. Budget is under $100, I am a broke college kid I don't want to spend all that much.

    advice?

    Hello and welcome.

The usual mantra here is go out into the stores, sniff a lot, and find out for yourself what you like. Everybody's taste is differenent. Have a read through some of the threads and you will see that there are plenty of scents out there that are loved by some people, and loathed by others.

No, citrus isn't girly at all. Chanel Pour Monsieur and YSL Pour Monsieur have both been around a long time, Terre d' Hermes is a more recent take, much loved round these parts.

Good ideas, everybody. You should also try L'Eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake -- there's an original and they also put out a Summer Edition each year.

    Good luck, new guy.

Based on your self-description and your location I would recommend:

    Hanae Mori HM
    Chanel Allure Homme Sport

HM can be had for about $30 for 3.4oz, AHS 1.6oz will run you $60. Get both, great fragrances for summer.

If you want a fresh citrus , why donīt you buy the super classic Eau D'Orange Verte Concentree? It smells like crushed green leafs of orange, or orange peels. It is perfect for summer.

Yeh -- the 2012 summer edition was particularly nice.

Fantastic Man by Byredo is a lovely cologne -- now called Sunday Morning, I think.

When it comes to summer, I always think of something light and fresh, usually around citrus and aquatics.

Nautica Voyage - A cheapie, but pretty smooth. It doesn't have an alcohol zing to it that is kinda common to most aquatics.

Acqua di Gio - Another aquatic, this one is kinda like a relaxing ocean breeze, just very calming. Some people here complain that it's too popular, too common... maybe it's popular for a reason.

ADG if you want a classic and affordable. Else Acqua Di Parma has great colognes, can't go wrong with any of their range and if you buy from fragrancenet or reputable online, you can get the 2 oz within your budget for sure.

I would just get the best selling fragrance in the history. Aqua di gio. And go from there.

The best advice is to go to a dept store, and smell as many frags as possible. Make your first purchase something mainstream popular, and easy to wear. Like aqua di gio, or Versace pour homme, or ysl l'homme. These are popular for a reason and they can be found anywhere. They are also versatile, and loved by almost everyone.

If you plan on making collecting a hobby, these would great scents to have because they are great for a collector and great for wearing.

Acqua Di Gio is probably the only of the above recommendations that I would personally recommend.
