Okay, so I first joined Basenotes at the beginning of winter looking for a good winter scent. It was also my first time purchasing cologne for myself (until then i simply wore Le Male, as i got a large bottle for christmas a couple years back). You guys recommended some choices and i ended up choosing Burberry London. Which I absolutely loved! I still have plenty of it left, but it really isn't the best spring/summer scent. Now that it is warming up I am looking for a new scent.
I want it it to be refreshing, revitalizing and clean, maybe with some citrus in it for a lively kick.
From reading on the forums there seems to be a couple that are constantly recommended (there may be many more but these are the ones i noticed a lot, feel free to recommend more):
- Mugler by Thierry Mugler
- Cool Water by Davidoff
- Acqua di Gi˛ pour Homme by Giorgio Armani
- Bulgari Aqua pour Homme by Bulgari
- Live Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent
I hear that Cool Water gets a lot of compliments and is a clone of Creed's Green Irish Tweed (which i can't afford but definitely wish i could). So currently i am leaning towards Cool Water. But I also hear Live Jazz is quite good and the top notes are more citrus-ey. How strong is the orange blossom in Cool Water?
I'm sure there are more great scents so feel free to suggest them, but if you guys could give you opinions and insights into these scents (and other scents if you have a special recommendation), that would be super helpful!
Thanks so much!
EDIT: If it's of any concern I am a heterosexual male, 19 years old, in college.

I'd go for Cool water or the Mugler, depending. Cool water is more structured and complex, with a marine vibe. The Mugler is more direct and fun, with an interesting steam iron note. If you want something to last through the day, perhaps you can go for Cool water.
There is something weird about Mugler Cologne; it feel too green to me (if you've tried it you might know what I mean). As for my recommendations on a summer scent (although I'm not qualified for great breakdowns):
Nautica Voyage (cheap, has apples, smells like you'd get it in a department store)
Dolce & Gabbana The One (Fresh and warm, light, fleeting, masculine smelling)
Frapin 1270 (more fruity version of The One. IMO should be a women's perfume. Try it, though)
Polo Double Black (a little spice and fruit with this, light but not too fleeting)
Creed Virgin Island Water
Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts (light lime [noticeable], smells like the beach, note a note but you get a sun lotion vibe)
Frapin L'Huministe (Authentic lime. Very dry)
Thierry Mugler Pure Malt (sort of smells like medicated cherry chapstick, weird I know. Spray one spray on your chest and it'll be light enough. Check the notes out)
I didn't list anything that I haven't smelt before. I'm currently looking for a few summer things, and I'm the same demographic as you. Good luck.
Imaginary Authors' The Soft Lawn
Based on my extensive use of all five, I rank them in this order.
1. Cool Water.
2. Acqua Di Gio
3. Live Jazz
4. Mugler Cologne
5. Bulgari Aqua
All good choices though.
Lots of good suggestions in here, and I would add the following, both easily obtainable for under $30
Tous Man Sport
Nautica Oceans (not really a citrus scent, but very clean, refreshing and relaxing, with a slight suntan lotion note in it)
Be sure and search for "Recommend a spring/summer scent for me," too. Lots of them to help you and fairly recent.

Be sure to sample Live Jazz first. For me (and many others), while it starts off wonderfully refreshing, the cilantro note can become overwhelming as it dries down. Cool Water is a more complex, but well blended scent & I personally can't pick up any specific orange blossom (then again, I never really tried to).
ADG is pretty easy to get along with, so that could be an easy choice as well.
Chanel Allure Homme Sport. I just discovered this scent and to me this is what you are looking for.
Current top 10
1. Chanel Allure Homme Sport
2. YSL L'homme
3. Millesime Imperial
4. Versace Pour Homme
5. Bleu De Chanel
6. Mugler Cologne
8. Green Irish Tweed
9. Virgin Island Water
Chanel Allure Edition Blanche is such a great citrus smell. VIW is also really great.
If your shooting for a scent that has citrus, then you should go for ADG...however, Clinique Happy is a nice citrus that is not too common and is light, gets compliments.
Very nice choices there, I will throw in
-Versace man eau fraiche
Happy hunting and you are on a great start with the frags that you already have in mind!
