Personally don't see the similarities and I own both.
I have a small sample of Chanel Coromandel, and the first time I applied it I was reminded of Guerlain Habit Rouge. Honestly, I've had an issue with HR being too powdery and sweet during its dry-down, so I've had this 50ml bottle for about 30 years. A couple of days ago I compared these two by wearing Coromandel on one arm and HR on the other. I found HR to be spicier, denser and a bit sweeter. Coromandel was a bit more floral, "spacious" and slightly less sweet. Both have some woody notes on me (sandalwood?) and although I prefer Coromandel it has helped me to better "get" HR as a frag.
Does anyone else find similarities between these two?

I found absolutely no similarities between the two. Love Coromandel and hate Habit Rouge (EDT) which smells like powdery lemon cleanser.
I absolutely ADORE Habit Rouge and I could not live without it. But I've never tried Coromandel. Sorry.
have both and personally don't find any similarities between both of them
love habit rouge, an all rounder winner,
where as on the hand, coromandel is good but not as great as habit rouge

100% agree. If Habit Rouge didn't have the name 'Guerlain' on it, it wouldn't be nearly as praised as it is(which it shouldn't be anyhow).
Coromandel on the other hand, is absolutely gorgeous and smooth, not too sweet and just a delight to wear! I love the stuff and I'm not a big Chanel fan apart from Egoïste.
Coromandel is one of the FEW that I have ever been stopped and commented how good I smelled,. Some woman at a shop one evening said 'my god you smell good". and this must have been 8 pm and I had not applied it for hours, I didn't even smell it on myself by that time.
If incense and citrus smell the same to you, you could save a lot of money and wear drugstore frags!![]()
I own both and am struggling to find any similarity at all. My wife describes Coromandel as "an ethereal patchouli bomb" and Habit Rouge as "old ladies piss".![]()
Hard work never killed anyone, but why risk it?
No similarities . I own both. I prefer Coromandel and I get a lot of compliments wearing it. I cannot overcome the fact that is marketed as a female fragrance , sometimes, but who cares , I like it![]()

Since I already enjoy Habit Rouge, even one more additional reason to also try Coromandel (and even if the two are not similar at all, still worth the fragrance experience of becoming familiar with one scent more since, so far, I haven't tried Coromandel).
