all the stuff from L'Erbolario!
Sometimes - more and more - I just need a break: no super mind-blowing stuff, no "performance assessment", no sillage monster, nothing to analyze over and over again... Well you sure know what I mean. When in that mood, I usually reach for a "simple" well crafted cologne. Currently that cologne is my 300 ml Eau Universelle bottle (l'Occitane), a wonderfull and uplifting juice. Two years ago, Bambou (Roger & Gallet) was that "no brainer"...
But I need neither to be in that particular mood nor in a particular season, to enjoy them. What I mean is that, an obvious, clear, quite basic structure is just what we need sometimes...
Your turn! Do you have your so simple, so obvious frag?
Thanx in advance for the replies!
Cheers from the procrastinating French Spring!
all the stuff from L'Erbolario!
However, hard to beat Mugler cologne when it comes to simple and ADG to obvious, I guess!
À l'air libre les oiseaux ont eux aussi le vertige (camille)
I also very much need my simple, unpretentious scents. No. 5 Eau Premiere is one which always works for me. Simple florals such as Ofresia are also great.
L'Heure Bleue EDT - I am addicted to this!
ALSO - Diorling - it's the leather and Byredo Pulp - it's the fruit
All three are very complex formulations which come off as simple to me
Thanks for the thread, guys.
How nice to be the simple stuff!
You have definitly piqued my curiosity, bonsai! Time to cross the Alps! Thank you!
Back on thread: I also remember how, years ago, I really enjoyed Mont Saint-Michel Colognes! It's been a long time since I tried that line.
You know what.
I sometimes play with essential oils.
I'd for example mix lavender oil with gin or vodka or brandy... Fun experiments.
YSL Pour Homme
Prada Infusion Pour Homme - just plain soap. Works for me))
Astier de Vittalle's Eau Fugace - simple juice for the summer - no hype whatsoever!
Another is the Aoud series from Nejma - decently well crafted and excellently priced, hardly discussed on BN...
Third's my all time summer fav - Hilfiger Athletic, discontinued, but available on ebay / amazon - wonderful grapefruit, but with a very harsh beginning
Mugler Cologne without a doubt.
When I can't think of anything to wear or I want a nice scent in my room, I reach for either of these 10:
1. Prada Infusion D'Homme
2. Kiton For Men
3. Creed Millesime Imperial
4. Creed Original Vetiver
5. Chopard Noble Vetiver
6. Armani Acqua Di Gio Essenza
7. Acqua Di Parma Colonia
8. Acqua Di Parma Colonia Essenza
9. Acqua Di Parma Colonia Assoluta
10. Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa

“When you step back from stressing the parts,
when the mind becomes still, the rose comes to you,
unfolds in you in all her glory.
The perfume invades you completely.
The rose is you. You are one.”
Mugler Cologne (another vote )
And also Bulgari pour Homme. I know they list 250 notes, but it always gives me a simple, happy smile.
Off-hand I think of things like Dior Vetiver and Caron Pour Un Homme -- just a few notes, but well worth it.

I've been raving about Jo Malone's Orange Blossom so I might as well rave on this thread too. It's a simple, well crafted Orange Blossom (although I can see how many people might smell honeysuckle). It has good longevity for an EDT. It may be perceived as a bit feminine but it's just too delightful to put down easily.

I like orange blossom when it's not the big major player. When it's the main caracter, I mean very prominent, that reminds me orange blossom flavoured food/pastry
That being said, I agree: a well blended orange blossom cologne is bright and uplifting!
Bois d'Encens. I don't know about obvious but it's very simple, wonderful, and stays close to my skin, so it's just for me.
