Default So simple, so obvious et sooo enjoyable! Tell us about yours :D

    Hi!
Sometimes - more and more - I just need a break: no super mind-blowing stuff, no "performance assessment", no sillage monster, nothing to analyze over and over again... Well you sure know what I mean. When in that mood, I usually reach for a "simple" well crafted cologne. Currently that cologne is my 300 ml Eau Universelle bottle (l'Occitane), a wonderfull and uplifting juice. Two years ago, Bambou (Roger & Gallet) was that "no brainer"...
But I need neither to be in that particular mood nor in a particular season, to enjoy them. What I mean is that, an obvious, clear, quite basic structure is just what we need sometimes...
Your turn! Do you have your so simple, so obvious frag?
Thanx in advance for the replies!
Cheers from the procrastinating French Spring!

I tried a couple of them last time I was in Italy, and I'm very impressed. I can't tell about the quality, but certainly the quality/price rate is really high. I loved the Neroli cologne, Meharees and I must stay that the Sandalo one is truly lovely.

However, hard to beat Mugler cologne when it comes to simple and ADG to obvious, I guess!

I also very much need my simple, unpretentious scents. No. 5 Eau Premiere is one which always works for me. Simple florals such as Ofresia are also great.

L'Heure Bleue EDT - I am addicted to this!
ALSO - Diorling - it's the leather and Byredo Pulp - it's the fruit
All three are very complex formulations which come off as simple to me

Off thread mode: L'Erbolario is great value for the money. I own Meharees, Ambraliquida, Iris and Tiare and plan on purchasing more when I get the chance to visit Italy again.

You have definitly piqued my curiosity, bonsai! Time to cross the Alps! Thank you!

Back on thread: I also remember how, years ago, I really enjoyed Mont Saint-Michel Colognes! It's been a long time since I tried that line.

    You know what.
I sometimes play with essential oils.
I'd for example mix lavender oil with gin or vodka or brandy... Fun experiments.

Yeah, I often think about playing God with essential oils and frags, but for some reason I haven't yet!

Astier de Vittalle's Eau Fugace - simple juice for the summer - no hype whatsoever!

Another is the Aoud series from Nejma - decently well crafted and excellently priced, hardly discussed on BN...

Third's my all time summer fav - Hilfiger Athletic, discontinued, but available on ebay / amazon - wonderful grapefruit, but with a very harsh beginning

I sometimes wear Prada Infusion PH at work where there's a no-fragrance rule.
One spritz on the chest, just for me.
If detectable at all it's like I'm spending the bucks on high-class soap.

Badarun, I just checked and the Astier de Villatte line is very inviting! First time I hear about this house...

    Mugler Cologne (another vote )

And also Bulgari pour Homme. I know they list 250 notes, but it always gives me a simple, happy smile.

Off-hand I think of things like Dior Vetiver and Caron Pour Un Homme -- just a few notes, but well worth it.

Was a blind buy justified only bcoz Caron was behind this line, went looking for Slumberhouse Vikt and the sales agent from the online store who I emailed raved abt Eau Fugace, when I saw Caron behind I ordered w/o hesitation, no regrets whatsoever, nice citrus with a gentle patch...

I've been raving about Jo Malone's Orange Blossom so I might as well rave on this thread too. It's a simple, well crafted Orange Blossom (although I can see how many people might smell honeysuckle). It has good longevity for an EDT. It may be perceived as a bit feminine but it's just too delightful to put down easily.

Thanks, Bandarun. I thought you meant the House Caron: but actually it's Françoise Caron, the nose (sister of Olivier Cresp)? Right?

    Justin, yeah you can rave
I like orange blossom when it's not the big major player. When it's the main caracter, I mean very prominent, that reminds me orange blossom flavoured food/pastry
That being said, I agree: a well blended orange blossom cologne is bright and uplifting!

Bois d'Encens. I don't know about obvious but it's very simple, wonderful, and stays close to my skin, so it's just for me.
