Default SotD Friday, 19 April 2013

    Good morning,

It's almost summery here... which is a damn good thing in my book!
Today's scent is the growling, furry original Shiseido Rose de Nuit. It's one of my absolute holy grails.

I had wine o'clock last night, too , so I shall continue in style... last night to watch the sunset was a good Chianti (I can't remember I had a Chianti I really liked in the past twenty years or so...). I'm having visions of a Burgundy for tonight.

    Best to all

Thanks for the well wishes guys, I really appreciate them..need them a lot right now. hugs.

Good morning all !. In synch with Cotswold Perfumery Oberon.

Glad to be back after yesterday - my idea of hell. Words cannot express my contempt and loathing for this "team bonding" crap companies seem to love nowadays. Had to go into the capital to a plush hotel hired out by the company (who constantly harp on about saving money ) to listen to self-congratulatory management B/S, followed by "team activities" with a bunch of people who I barely know. The icing on the cake ? - the finish was perfectly timed for the worst of the London rush-hour. How I pity those who have to endure it on a daily basis. I was tempted to go with 10 sprays of Black Orchid just to get up everyone's noses but went with VC&A Cologne Noire instead. Am I any better for the experience ?, can I do my job more efficiently as a result ?, was it all a pointless waste of time and money ?. Answers on a postcard ....

The mood is considerably lighter now as I am on leave today, relaxing, watching the odd DVD, and mulling over which sumptuous repast to conjure up for Her Ladyship after her day of toil.

May as well include an excerpt from a DVD I have just been watching - probably doesn't say much for my juvenile humour but a little Friday silliness should lift the mood further on the countdown to Wine O'clock. Enjoy your day !.

Happy Birthday shoegal68 You are missed ...

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. It was this or the Carnal Flower today.....but this is like a soft cocoon. Much needed for crazy fridays in London as described by Jon Rodgers! Thankfully Mr Jon after yesterday still manages to put up the beautiful photos for us!

Why do so few perfume houses not put the sensible protective bags like this for being able to take the fragrance when away from the home.

@ Jon Rodgers.....so well put. The idea of *team bonding* has always been joke in my experience. Thankfully it is not suggested to me after my first experiences. My first boss thought it was funny that at times I refused to participate in the *company enforced fun events*. Just let me do my work.....I can choose who I want to socialise with all on my own!

I'm friends with the local Liz Earle counter lady and her sample bottle arrived this morning ahead of next Thursday's launch, so she allowed me a dab

Larimar, I'm with you -- Chiantis generally underwhelm me.

However, Arquiste does not underwhelm me! And I'm finally synched today in Boutonniere No. 7. And now for the weather update: it's still cold here (low 40s F), but at least the sun's out.

    Happy Friday, all.

Kalli and any in need, I send you superpower vibes and bone-crushing hugs. Happy birthday, Shoegal, wherever ya be.

As an escalating hermitress and contrarian, I'd loath having to do team-building antics, too. I'd have stood up and made a speech to that effect if forced to attend. "Are we children!?" ... yadda, yadda, rant.

One more day of tolerance for keyboard work and weather suppression, then emancipation, shovel and cart lie just beyond. My greatest bliss. Sunny, orangey Boucheron fits the mood.

The details I shan't bore you with, but Mr. Q and I had an unplanned conversation with a power-that-be yesterday, which has us consumed with thoughts of this special building. Think good thoughts, and maybe one day I'll have details to share which could bore no one who enjoys a good, true story. (A resemblance to The Cotswold Perfumery cannot be ignored.)

Larimar, I know what you mean about chianti. It’s always such a pleasant surprise to find one that’s really good. The last time that happened for me was about 16 years ago! I bought and inexpensive chianti from a wine shop to have with pizza or something, and as I sat sipping from my glass, I was hit with a “Wow!” It was so nice, nuances of cherry, cinnamon, a little chocolate. That never happened again. I think it must be very hit or miss with chianti.

Wine o’clock here tonight will be sake with take out sushi. We’re ready for tomorrow’s showing of the house to prospective buyers. I am BEAT. My SotD is my latest love, Violette in Love by Parfums de Nicolaï. I blind bought the half bottle Arwen Elf listed on her sale thread. I love VIolette in Love. I’m in the mood for violet.

Kiliwia, I don’t know what you are going through, but I sure hope circumstances improve for you soon. Sounds like your hubby is sweet, trying to cheer you up. Everything changes eventually, dear – even rough patches. Hang in there.

Jon, I always love your photos, and the video was exactly what I needed this afternoon. A good laugh with tears and cheeks hurting and everything. B-belle likes to watch Gear Head (is it called?) so he will enjoy that, too. I hear you on the team bonding/team building too! Ugh! Groan! Torture!

Hey there, PLady - you sure smell purty! But I was just thinkin', if you could hold off on that back-up for a bit, you might be able to help me (and ExtremeK) out by buying hers, in the (highly unlikely) event that she doesn't like it, hehe. I have absolutely no recollection of this, but I apparently boasted to Tony that I'm not addicted and don't need to buy any more perfumes ...for a while, so I'm going to see if I can show him just what sort of iron-will I have ...for a while. Naturally, if you're out of the lovely stuff and don't want to wait then go ahead and order it, but if you have a little left for a few more wears, maybe you could wait just a bit longer and see what happens ...? I don't mean to be presumptuous, but you wouldn't have any objections to that ExtremeK, would you?
