Default Do you wear pure oud oil to work in the office?

I know that many say that pure oud oil are too strong to wear out in public... but have you ever tried to wear pure oud oil to work before? If so, how did your co-workers respond to it... i have some pure Hindi and borneo oud, but i feel that if i was going to wear one to work, it would be the borneo... i think the Hindi will get a lot of negative response because of the beautiful barnyard smell... which us oud lovers love soo much...

No. But personally, I find this to be a contradiction:

Oak's words echoed, "...change1! There's a time and place for everything! But not now."

This classic gaming quote sums up my answer. Probably a little too much for the office.

Do you wear MKK in your office? If Yes, then say Hi to your oud .

Yes, I've worn both Cambodian and Assam pure oud oils to the office. The Assam is really barnyardy. :-)

I enjoy them, and I couldn't care less what others think either positive or negative...

I work mostly with Indian people... Doubt anyone would complain. But I stick mostly with oud-based edps.

I have, for special occasions, without particular reactions. The problem is that usually they're too expensive to be wasted on ordinary office time (unless they are cheapies like Mukhallat Malaki or the like).

What is the proper way to wear pure oud oil for the office? How much do you apply on and where?

My immediate thought would be 'don't do it bro' but unless you can get fired for wearing a strong scent I say at least give it a try.

I have the hindi barnyard oil. I am still trying to find courage to layer it with M7 Oud Absolu. People at the office will think I visited a farm.

I wear suits, so perfumes are more subdued under the clothes. I wear oils either on the forearm, or a drop or two on paperstrip that I put in my breast pocket. From the breast pocket, I get nice whiffs now and then as I move, but it's never overwhelming. And it lasts for days.

I had a very good quality Borneo (from Oriscent) that I wore everywhere. It was mostly floral and woody on me. I got no reactions either way.

Not unless your workmates wear and are used to oud oils. People who didn't get their nose exposed to oud will not enjoy it.

Good quality Borneo Ouds are friendly. I wear them and I work in close proximity to other people - no problem. Generally Borneo's don't project that much either. I have also worn a very high quality sweet Cambodian oil to work - also no problem and again at this quality it won't leap off your skin and attack anyone. These oils are for the wearer, and usually only the wearer can smell them. Of course care must be taken with the more pungent Hindi type Oud oils, as not only are they less friendly, but they also project more - great for wearing at home or out on my bike though. There are the occasional Hindi oils that are sweeter and without barnyard, such as AgarAura's Royal Assam - delicious caramel and earthy notes - much less pungent that MKK or many of the myriad of fake oud fragrances out there - I certainly wouldn't wear Dior Leather Oud or many of the Montales to work!

@Change1, judging by your top 10 list, i'd like to recommend Kurkdjians Absolue Pour Le Soir.

Its an amazingly crafted fragrance. And has a great stank to it

No to funky for a conservative office.

I have worn pure oud oils to work a time or two, but like Cacio, I'd rather not waste them on that setting. I have a high quality Borneo that is a woody vanilla, very parfum-like, nothing at all barny. I also have several high quality Cambodian/Thai pure oud oils, again nothing fecal/barny, but rather fruity or floral woody. I agree with Sparky in that the majority of pure oud oils don't project as well as say an EDP, however there are exceptions. I tend to wear pure oud oils on areas not covered by clothing like on my neck, behind ears, face, beard area, hands and when warm out I wear on my forearms.

I wear pure oud oils to the office practically every day, although the ones that are in my work rotation are of the non-barnyard variety (funky Hindis/Laos etc don't appeal to me anyway). I've received nothing but compliments, especially on Borneos, sweet Cambodis and some Burmese/Chinese ones. Not one negative comment or dirty look, ever. I am sure the reactions wouldn't be quite as positive if I doused myself in fecal/cheesy/barny stuff.

For me finding the thpes of ouds that work well with my body chemistry was the most important thing. Once you know what suits you and it develops over the day, and how to apply the oils and how much - I can't imagine how wearing ouds can be offensive in a typical office setting. They are subtle, complex and very dynamic, enveloping the wearer in an understated but clearly present personal scent aura. The best thing is that while it's evident that you are wearing a frafrance of some sort it's not "perfumy" at all.
