Default Help me choose summer fragrance

I may be moving from England to a much hotter country this summer and I'm looking for a fragrance for temperatures in the 30c range. Many of my current frags are strong and I'm not sure what will be suitable for a hot climate. I tend to buy niche fragrances and love woody scents. Would an edc like 4711 be appropriate? I know it's not niche. Can you suggest some for me please?

I use the frag I like on any given day, irrespective of weather or other factors, but I will be sensible enough not to spray 20 times from a musc ravageur on a 30C day...

My choices --->>>Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire or Hilfiger Athletic or Eau d'Hadrien / Eau du Sud both by Annick Goutal / Acqua di Parma's Colnia Intensa or Essenza

4711 is certainly very pleasant and refreshing, but it's a true eau de cologne. Which means that it doesn't last more than 5 minutes. You should use it to refresh yourself if you're sweating, sanitizing your hands, when you're playing sports or the like.

As a real frag, I like vetivers in our hot DC summer. They're fresh and last a decent amount of time. I second $$$ Vetiver Extraordinaire, the freshest vetiver around. But also all the others, from Sycomore (some people find it warm and for the winter - so I guess it's a matter of opinion), to the rooty Lubin or Goutal, to the also fresh Dior (which I am wearing now).

    L'EAU D'ISSEY POUR HOMME

Not woody, but easily the best Summer fragrance.

Dior Homme Sport has been changed in the last year, the new stuff isn't so good in my opinion. Kenzo Homme Sport is now closest to the original Dior Homme Sport. Declaration Cologne is another Citrus/Ginger, and would be my preference.

I always take my bottle of L'Eau par Kenzo with me when I'm going somewhere really hot. Mugler Cologne is great in the heat, but sadly doesn't last an hour on me, so you might want to try Creed Original Vetiver. Actually a decent Vetiver would be a good idea, you don't have to go niche to get one, Guerlain or Givenchy Vetiver are as good as any you'd pay 3 times as much for.

Apart from the L'Eau par Kenzo, don't ask me about Aquatics, I don't like them. I'm one of these poor souls that doesn't get watermelon from Calone, but rotting seaweed

Live Jazz is a good shout (but if you can, try before you buy, it seems to be very skin chemistry dependent this one), or Guerlain Homme L'Eau, or Concentre de Pamplemouse Rose, or Bulgari Homme Extreme. All good Grapefruit scents.

I have a left field suggestion - L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Eau Fraiche. Metholated Patchouli, works really well in the heat.

If you're moving to the East and somewhere tropical then stick to light frags. Something like Kenzo pour homme would be good.

I used Terre d'Hermes with good results in Southern Vietnam

Nice suggestions. I remember I have a bottle of Eau d'Orange Verte by Hermes, which might do the trick. The Acqua di Palma sounds interesting. I'll try some of the others the next time I'm in town. I tried Aventus last week. Didn't get any pineapple but it was fairly fresh. I bought Viloressi Vetiver last week so maybe that's a good choice for the heat.

Live Jazz was my first thought too.

The original poster is based in the UK and this can be picked up very cheap over here. I think I paid just 25 for a 100ml bottle in Wilkinsons.

A lovely scent for hot, sticky days. Not the strongest fragrance but very refreshing and I always find YSL scents quite classy.
