    Happy Birthday dear Teardrop!

    SotD is actually just a body cream, Imaginez La Provence Sunflower, which is similar to Laura Ashley No. 1.

    ^Thanks, ladym! Likewise, of course - you smell quite delightful yourself.

    Exactly the same here, and I can't really put my finger on why - I love many types of cuisine, yet Italian is inevitably the one I gravitate towards. Great minds

    All the best birthday wishes to teardrop!

    Congrats to Kiliwia! Love every one of your pretty posts! And I was very happy to read your good news from the docs!

    Guerlain AA Jasminora today, again. Have been trying to think what this reminds me of and today it finally clicked-Sung by Alfred Sung. The pre-reformulation version, not the current air freshener version. Sung was my wedding day scent, a hundred years ago.

    Whoa!! Wait - are my eyes fooling with me or is that a much younger Tom Cruise modeling in that Armani ad??? I recognize that nose, especially.
    Jon, you smell fantastic! I love that classic Armani.

    Happy Birthday, teardrop!!
    And, wow, congratulations Kiliwia!!

    Well, spring took a break today and it is cool, cloudy and windy. I'm wearing Comme des Garcons Avignon.

    L'enfer you smell wonderful.

    I'm topped up this evening in iris, too - Ramon Monegal's Impossible Iris (from a sample which I want to finish up).

    I woke up to temps in the 20's and SNOW! Seriously? It's the end of April. No.More.Snow. I've been putting off wearing something spring-like until the weather cooperates, but I'm thinking I need to just bust out the spring frags and maybe that will turn things around. So, I'm wearing Bulgari pour Femme today, a very sophisticated spring floral. Violet and rose are the prominent notes to me. I almost always receive a compliment when wearing this ... and today was no exception.

    Happy birthday, teardrop! Those cakes and cupcakes look delicious!

    shades, I have heard on TV it is the record temps we are having this year -- an absolute low for this day is 24F and we had 23F (-5C). But come weekend, it is back to normal -- in the high 70s (+24-+26C). Like JR, I have nothing against the cold, I am against the untidy, muddy or white. Gimme green!

    Another winner this PM -- from that same fresh batch of samples -- Byredo Black Saffron (the only Byredo that impresses me at all, I am even able and willing to put up with its muskiness). And then again, saffron -- one of the most expensive foods in the world -- is comforting.

    To join the discussion about the comfort of Italian food:
    1) starch in breads and pasta triggers "happiness" centers in the brain;
    2) olive oil/olives -- unsaturated fats in general -- facilitate multiple chemical exchanges in the body and normalize many functions; Speaking of olives: please do not buy them Lindsay's for $1.19 a can, do yourself a favor and buy real stuff with Kalamata being the best and you will be hooked;
    3) tomatoes (please always remember they are always better cooked than raw!) promote red blood cells buildup;
    4) garlic's benefits are abundant, just remember to NOT eat it alone;
    5) basil, flat leaf parsley, tarragon, rosemary and oregano are all super chargers;
    6) anchovies -- oh well, they are simply wonderful. Just do not overdo.
    I wonder, what to hate? (However, I personally dislike pizza as sold in most US restaurants -- and we do not buy pre-frozen cardboard stuff, you know? -- I enjoy making it from scratch with home-made tomato sauce.)

    Late check-in to add my Happiest Birthday wishes for teardrop!

    SotD was vintage Chergui and the new Malle/Dries thing. While I like the latter, it is too quiet (also in a warm climate) and I dislike the deep base foody aspect.

    While at it, let me add to Wolfie's secrets de la cuisine:

    However, genetically the Italian cuisine should be good for me, but over the years it's the one Mediterranean style that I include less and less.
    The carb load is not good for my well being and looking. I have conditioned my happiness centers not to depend primarily on simple sugars. BUT it's an issue to consider when changing your diet!
    I swear (quality) by olive oil from Crete for the kitchen.
    I am more drawn to raw tomatoes... a summer classic is buffalo mozzarella and lots of fresh basil.
    I make a wonderful pizza myself (dough and all).

    More Greek style then? Do you like sardines? (My staple here!). Goat cheeses?

    Mediterrannean can vary greatly: Lebanese, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Moroccan, even Italian are all different.

    My favorite comfort food is Chinese.
