I think it's great and one of it's kind but there are much better scents.
I received a sample of A*men today and I sprayed some on my wrist...
I don't know what to say except it is...Strong! I finally realized the babes must be wearing the female version of this because I smell this A*men scent everywhere!
I honestly feel as though it could be a little nauseating but that's just me...However, the ladies might feel differently after smelling this on me, who knows. If I give this cologne a try and give it some time, I might grow to love it. What are your thoughts guys?
I think it's great and one of it's kind but there are much better scents.
I personally enjoy it, but it is on the strong side. A very polarizing scent IMO.
I kept sniffing my wrist while I am sitting here studying for finals tomorrow and I swear I almost getting a headache, it just might be a little too sweet. Wonder how the females feel about A*men, ladies get in here!
I'm not a fan but there are many on here that are. It's way too strong for me, and it's almost suffocatingly heavy.
Yeah, a LOT of women wear this and I'm soooo tired of smelling it on them. It's got a heavy dose of patchouli that gets really irritating, in my opinion.
However, a co-worker was wearing Alien the other day and she smelled great.
Here's some advice for you though: If you like A*Men but are a little on the fence about it (you said you might grow to love it), try the flankers--Pure Malt, Pure Havane, and A Taste of Fragrance are all great--and a little easier to wear than the original. They're softer around the edges and don't feature the intense Tar note that A*Men does.
A*Men is one of my favorites. That said, I get WAAAAAAAY more compliments from females from AdG Essenza, La Nuit and Le Male, if that is what is important to you.
EDIT: as for the flankers, I can't wear Pure Malt to work (nor do I wear A*Men for that matter). I wore Pure Malt one Friday and a co-worker told me I smelled like I was up all night boozing. LOL!
Ive had a ton of woman tell me they like the smell of A men and puer Havane
As for the last two repliers...Not sure if troll or serious -_- LOL
I've been doing some reading and I'll give Pure Malt a blind buy as my next cologne, hands down.

a men is a powerhouse. spray only a little and youll be fine
lol I meant to say, some reviewers say the exact opposite against A*men, that is why I was not sure if you guys were serious or joking in your replies. A lot of people, however, are in favour of Pure Malt - I guess it's a love/hate thing with A*men.
btw, Chanel Allure Homme Sport kinda stirs my curiousity though...=D
I stand by what I said in my post. Exactly what I said has been my experience to date with all of the scents mentioned.
Good lord indeed.
A*Men is one of my favorites....however I am a gourmand lover.
With that said, I will say women that have smelled it on me love it. That chocolate, caramel, vanilla drydown is amazing.
It is great, a classic
so guys, when comparing Chanel Allure Homme Sport with all of the A*men series, which would you recommend?
Allure Homme Sport VS. A*men, Pure Malt, Pure Havanne, etc...
The first time I smelled it on a card from a Sales lady, I didn't dislike it, but didn't know what to make out of it, I've never smelled a Fragrance like that.
I put the card on my car and kept smelling it every time I got into the car for the next two weeks or so. i liked it, the name and the bottle, the color of the juice, the novelty, the sweetness and heavenly masculine smell, ah yes the patchouli was awesome too.
I got a small metal bottle that came with five small samples, and I've been loving it ever since.

Honestly my man, I don't see any comparison among those.
Form is emptiness, emptiness is form.
A*Men is definitely heavy & polarizing. However, if lightly applied, it's really not that heavy. I have to admit, when I first tried it, I absolutely could not stand the stuff. Months & months later, I tested it again and still didn't care for it. Yet months later again & I actually found myself enjoying it quite a bit. For some reason, it all started to come together for me and the tar note didn't seem as overpowering. It still wasn't my favorite part of the fragrance, but I enjoyed the mint/chocolate combo and loved the late drydown. Then, not long after, I finally got my nose on Pure Malt & loved it even more. Both great IMO.

Interestingly, I used to wear A Men when I was in highschool and I went through an entire 3.4oz bottle of it. I did not rebuy then because I was getting sick of the then perceived cotton candy scent which gave me a headache. Recently I came across a tester and resprayed and really did enjoy it now that I have a little better understanding of scent composition. I bought another 3.4oz bottle of it and I do really enjoy it, but I am not gravitating towards it as I had thought. I find it a bit cloying at times and if I want sweet gourmand I often go more for Lolita Lempicka au Masculin. It will always have a place in my collection though.
A*Men is IMO faaar too sweet for daytime or warm weather. Very modestly applied (as in - mist and walk through-modest), on cold evenings, it's pretty good. Knowing how to use it is key, though.
To my knowledge, I have not smelled A*Men. Is it not produced by Thierry Mugler? If it smells anything like Angel then forget it. I find Angel to be practically nauseating. In general, I'm not a gourmand fan. As you can probably tell, I am quite ignorant about men's fragrances.
Love hate for all
It's very good. Angel is even better.
When I sniffed Angel, I was just completely shocked. I had a "WTF this is a... perfume??" moment.
But for some reason, when I first smelled A*Men, I was just blown away. Also had a "never smelled anything like this before" vibe, but in a completely positive way. I just fell in love with it right away.
Now that I think about it, that seems really weird. I better revisit Angel.
Also, that star bottle is so much better than the rubber flask too.
If you want strong... try wearing Angel. Smells better and it blew away the competition in my tests.

Walked into the store planning to buy A*Men, walked out with Pure Havane. IMHO it's much easier to wear. Works for pretty much all four seasons, and is even workable for days whereas the original only seems right to me for fall/winter nights. I second everyone saying it's probably more up your alley. Who knows, it might indoctrinate you to a point where you feel comfortable with A*Men
Imo the tar note.is the best feature of this scent. On me it does not seem.to project.that much. It is going.strong.during the first hour or.so,.then becoming.a.skin.scent. Or maybe.it.is.olfactory fatigue from.the.initial.blast,.don't know...
I had pretty much similar sensations about this scents, as the ones described in the opening post of this thread. Be it its nearly atomic, huge projection or its rather overdone sweetness, I somehow never managed to like it. Granted, some notes taken apart may be interesting or even enjoyable to me, but I don't know whether their association/accord/combination and/or their outcome in terms of strength and excessively gourmand (at least, to my nose) make this scent rather unappealing to me.
The problem is that you are sticking your nose right into it and sniffing over and over. Of course its going to give you a headache. AMen has probably sold tens of millions of bottles since it cam out and most of the people that buy it just spray it on and go about their day. If you just smell the sillage like other people around you then it is not very strong and a very enjoyable frag. That is why it is a best seller and girls seem to love it on guys.

One of the most obnoxious fragrance I have smell. Literally gives me a headache.
I have bought it three times, the metal flask is beautiful. Yes it's very very strong one or two sprays are more than enough. I won't b buying it again because every single gay man wears this or le male and I find that so boring. There are so many other options out there. And to be honest the people that buy amen are not very tasteful. They wear too much of it to draw attention. I find it tacky to be honest even though it smells like hot chocolate on me after 2-3 hours. Some man was wearing it at ikea the other day and it smelled awful on him. The whole floor reeked of it.
I think what most of you might be smelling is chocolate by axe.
I doubt Amen is that commonly worn.
It is strong, polarizing and not for everyone. I really like it though And in Denmark it is not widely available, so I have only smelled it on another person once
PS: If you like A*Men, try Angel I own and like both. Different enough to own, love and wear both.

i love angel and all the flankers besides pure shot. definate head turners and lasts all day!!
When sampling A*Men, remember to give it a good 2 hours to dry down and then it's highly acceptable. I will not leave my house until it's been on my skin for at least an hour.

I have never bought an axe product. Amen is very commonly worn here actually.

To be honest I like the female version better even though they are both similar in the dry down. I like amen for sure it lasts for hours. I just don't like the way it's worn by some people.
