Thread: Best Blind Buy

    Default Best Blind Buy

What's the best blind buy you ever made?

I don't get to go to stores and test out various frags with any kind of regularity and I'm too lazy to deal with sampling online. mErgo most of my purchases are made online, either buying gently used bottles on Ebay (I find that's one of the easiest ways to enhance the probability of getting something authentic) or through online retailers like Amazon, Fragrancnet or Lilydirect.

So what are some of the best blind buys you guys have ever had? Looking to expend the collection, ideally with some cheap but great frags. Cheers

Serge Lutens Daim Blond. I had sprayed about 10 Serge Lutens on my wrists and arms, I had trouble differentiating what was what, so excited was I to find a big selection of Serge Lutens. Does that count? I love Daim Blond, now. Best one for a bit of extra confidence (I normally wear unoffensive citrusy-soapy ones in the line of Jo Malone to work)

I only blind bought once as it was cheap. I got Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey - Gold Absolu.

Much better than the original and lasts ages. I wouldn't blind buy again though.

I remember good ones of the few i've bought blind, mostly at Marshalls or the like, but nothing matches my joy when I open my bottle and sprayed Pure Malt for the first time. That has to be the best Blind buy I've ever made.

Ditto. I only own 5 bottles so far but three were blind buys. One was London and another was The One. I like both thankfully, but London really impressed me right away.

I really didn't want to blind buy, but the deal was too good. $28 for London and $35 for The One. Both 3.3oz size. I'm happy.

Looks like I'm kinda adventurous type, bought many bottles blind, not talking about decants - all decants I own are blind buys.

giving an update on that Black Aoud blind buy... WOW. first impression was a little bit underwhelmed. I was surprised at just HOW rosy it smelled. It's been all uphill from there though.

First off, it's an absolute powerhouse. Lasts DAYS. and projection is unreal. One spray and I'm done, this will last me for a few years.

Second, I'm in love with the progression of this scent. The initial is the famous mix of roses and our, with roses probably getting first billing, but the our outlasts the roses by far. The roses had faded into the background (but not disappeared) by the next morning but the oud was still going strong.

I LOVE this fragrance, and while I agree it's probably better suited to the winter or at night, I think the roses make it just light enough that it can probably be worn any time. Just my two cents. As for whether this is my best blind buy, hard to say. It's really a toss-up between this and GIT. Overall though, one of the best purchases I've ever made. 10/10

Most of my bottles were blind bought, mainly because many of them were unable to test locally. Some of my best bought were:
    Davidoff Zino
    V&R Antidote
    Michael Kors for Men
    Mugler A*Men ToF
    John Varvatos for Men
    Escada Magnetism
    Armand Basi Homme
    Loewe Solo
"I love fragrances because they provide a sheer endless variety: there is a scent for every occasion, mood or feeling. Standing before my collection in the morning matching a perfume to my needs is one of the most enjoyable things in my day". I don't want to miss that

Current Top 12 Spring: | Chanel Allure Blanche | Guerlain Homme Intense |
Dior Fahrenheit | Givenchy pour Homme | Carolina Herrera for Men | Narciso Rodriguez Him | T. Mugler A*Men Sunessence | Trussardi Inside | C. Herrera Chic | Azzaro PH | M. Kors Michael for Men | Pal Zileri Sartoriale |
