Well to be honest, the only ones I have tried are Chanel.

The other houses never send samples when asked nicely.

Same here familiar only with Chanel and some Hermes.

Chanel seduced me with La Pausa, Rue Cambon, Jersey, Coromandel and Eau de Cologne.

Cartier Les Heures is a very high quality line on the whole, IMO. My favorite is La Treizieme Heure.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driů) - tie

    6) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)

Not familiar with the Cartier and the Van Cleef&Arpels ranges, but I am more than pleased with the first three on the list, since they truly add an almost (and downright) niche-like depth, luxuriousness and elegance to their already stunning, pre-existing fragrances ranges which have set quite impressive standards too.

I have in my collection the entire exclusive lines of:

    Dior La Collection Privee
    Chanel Exclusifs
    Hermes Hermessence
    Cartier Les Heures

Of the above mentioned, I prefer the Dior and Hermes for being the most diverse.

I have only smelt the Dior ones that id consider suitable for a man.

I have to say they are very nice, tastefully done, and they smell quality.

They all apear to be very much of a same theme though, very similar. They are all very green, fresh, quite autumnul and possibly even slightly medicinal i found one or two of them. Think of vetvier and thats what the gents ones are like.

Very mature fragrances for someone very confident to wear that type of thing, but they wasnt for me.

Maybe when im in my 50's.

Dior as a line but I like Sycomore , Coromandel and Cuir de Russe individually more than anything in the Dior line. But I like more from the Dior than Chanel m

Only tried the bulk of the Dior line and a few of the Chanels, but I am a big fan of the Dior range. Lots of good scents in there, and very fairly priced.

Most appealing line overall for me is Chanel.
Favourites - Coromandel, Sycomore, Bois des Iles, Cuir de Russie, 31 Rue Cambon, Eau de Cologne.

    VC&A - Bois d'Iris, Cologne Noire.

Dior - Granville, Cologne Royale, Ambre Nuit.

Hermes - Vetiver Tonka, Ambre Narguile.

Cartier - L'Heure Promise, La Treizieme Heure

Personally do not feel one is better than the other. They all have fragrances that I like and at the same time, some I do not.

The one I would like to try is Armani Privee, which unfortunately, the ones I would like to try is not available stateside.

Second option. Small wonder I have 4 full sized bottles from 75ml to 200ml, a few miniatures, and I am not done with the full sized bottles yet. There will be more in my wardrobe!

I also have the entire Hermes Hermessence in samples (bar the latest addition), 4x15 ml sprays of 3 different scents from the line and 100ml bottle of Osmanthe Yunnan.

I find Chanel line to be more of a collection: diverse and far reaching

Primrose how could you ask such a question? I have bottles from each collection but I have to say Chanel's Exclusifs come in first place. Why? There are four or so fragrances from that collection I could not live without Sycomore, N°22, 31 Rue Cambon and 28 La Pausa.

The private/exclusive collections from Prada and Armani are also rather nice and worth a mention.

Each of us has a different taste.

I also liked the Armani Prive Cuir Amethyste.

I also think you should add Armani (Privé) and maybe Thierry Mugler (Miroir Miroir)!

I think Armani has a good set of exclusives, but they come and go. My beloved Amethyste was gone, and I don't know if it returned. I like it when companies have set that stay.

I think Chanel come out on top - with the Beaux classics + the more recent Sheldrake and Polge work it forms a pretty formidable collection.

The new Dior series is terrific - some lovely stuff there, too. Demachy is not messing around.

In terms of what I own from these:

    Chanel:
    Cuir de Russie Extrait
Bois des Iles Extrait & EDT
    Coromandel 250ml

    Dior:
    Granville 125 & 250ml ( a staple for me)
    Vetiver 125ml
Leather Oud, Oud Ispahan, Patchouli Imperiale & Eau Noire are all solid - possible purchases.

    Hermessences:
Vetiver Tonka 100ml and I keep stocked up on the travel version.
The rest I just own in travel size - Santal Massoia, Osmanthe Yunan, Ambre Narguille.

    Cartier:
L'Heure Fougueuse - been thru a couple of bottles already, excellent.
L'Heure Defendue - a mistake, should really have bought Le Treizieme Heure . . . next time.
The new L'Heure Vertueuse is nice but I recommend trying Herba Fresca (also Mathilde Laurent) before committing.

I would like to try the Prada exclusive line but they're not available here - must check out VC&A.
