    Default Shalimar Vs. Habit Rouge

I'm planning on picking up one or both of these fragrances (HR in EdT and Shalimar in EdP), but which do you guys think is better for a guy? I know Habit Rouge is supposed ot be the masculine version of Shalimar, but the animalic, musky, leathery notes seem more prominent in Shalimar and I tend to associate those fragrances with being intensely masculine. Which do you think is easier for a guy to pull off?

I would definitely choose Habit Rouge. Not because it is more masculine, but because I like it better.

I'm thinking of doing the exact same thing but I like their classier softer side. For me I'd go with Habit Rouge as shalimar gets a bit more soft. I may even give my shalimar edp to my girl if I don't like it getting too feminine.

I myself would definitely go with Habit Rouge EDP, and this solves all the things that made you hesitate between HR and Shalimar.
But even out of your choices, I'd still go with Habit Rouge rather than Shalimar.
My current top 10 (with no particular order):
    Givenchy Xeryus Rouge
    Dior Homme Intense
    Dior Fahrenheit
    Costume National Scent Intense
    Terre d'Hermes EDT
    CK Eternity for Men
    Creed Aventus
YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme (Old Tin Can)
    Thierry Mugler Pure Malt
    Costume National Homme

Thanks guys, I was thinking I might get both and if I decide Shalimar is too feminine (even though to my nose the notes sound more appealing) I'll just give it to my girlfriend.

Habit Rouge . . . also try Heritage de Guerlain EDT.

Habit Rouge EDP is darker than the EDT and has a distinct OUD basenote.

HR w/o a doubt... If you plan on buying Shalimar or the ageless Jicky, I would suggest you in buying the extrait versions...

I love and own both. Habit Rouge descends more from floral orientals like L'Origan, while Shalimar descends from orientals proper like Emeraude. If I had to choose one, I'd go for Shalimar, but both are exceptionally beautiful.

Both. Even at the same time.

Get both, as each one is amazing in their own way! I already own Habit Rouge EdT, but I love Shalimar, and I have postponed my purchase of it for far too long!

If you are into retro scent at the moment, get both. If not, just wait.

If I can give you a suggestion, if you like Habit Rouge or Shalimar, try to find the old "Bugatti" , first version (1993-1999).
It was nicknamed "Shalimar for Men"... astounding ingredients at astounding concentrations.

*Top Notes: Aldehydes. Bergamot, Clary Sage, Lemon, Lime, Neroli, Rosewood
•Middle Notes: Carnation, Cedar, Jasmine, Orris Root, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood
•Base Notes: Amber, Benzoin, Castoreum, Labdanum, Leather, Oakmoss, Musk, Tonka Bean, Vanilla

A tie, maybe HR preferred if pressed.

The EDC version of Shalimar is considerably more butch than the EDP. Habit Rogue is closely related and equally brilliant. I say get them both!!

Habit Rouge by a mile, while also acknowledging the classiness, quality and comparative unisex wearability of Shalimar.

From my testing of both, I'd go with Shalimar EdP.

Both lovely, but HR definitely more wearable for a man imo.
