    Hello, everyone!

Here just few pics from our camping trip. This lake is not the most beautiful in the world, but it does nicely for the most part.

Hello, good folks. I think of you so often. No asparagus coming up in our garden yet. Only rhubarb and cilantro. Daffodils are flowering. The male swallows are picking out where they'd each like their Mrs. to nest. A mallard has laid her eggs in one of our branch piles.

We are active outside until fatigue sends us inside for well-deserved showers. Life is sooooo good. I find it hard to believe anyone can be happier than we are.

I've hardly been wearing fragrance due to my mind being elsewhere. I regularly default to wearing Bond No. 9 Mothers, which Mr. Q comments on favorably every time. I think this could be my first signature scent.

Today I'm sampling Penhaligon's Peoneve. While I normally like green notes and often bitingly refreshing scents, the sharpness in Peoneve doesn't do anything for me. I'm so partial to the scent of Pre de Provence peony soap, which is creamy and dreamy, that I simply want "my" peony scent to be like that.

A big hit here You need to like raspberry also as it is one of the main players (tart rather than sweet) along with a supporting jasmine and mildly indolic ylang ylang. I have seen it described as overtly feminine but it works perfectly well for me. Unique and definitely bottleworthy - I'm grateful to foustie for opening my eyes to it.

Thanks turquoisewater - you smell pretty darn good yourself! One of the little ballerinas commented on it this morning. Y'all might remember my grandpa story (and his dog, Satchmo, who apparently wears Cuir de Russie...) well, it wasn't the same little girl as in that anecdote, but I was informed that I smelled like this one's Momo (grandma). So I asked her if she liked how her Momo smelled and she replied, "Oh yes, she smells just like a movie star!" So then I asked her if her mother smelled like a move star too, and she answered, rolling her eyes and with a good dose of pity in her voice, "Nope, because she always smells like my stinky little brother." Well, toddlers can be cute and all, but I'm rather pleased to remind her of her Momo rather than her mother ...or brother.

I'm in something else now though. My parents are out of town so I'm house-sitting again, which requires little more than watering plants and collecting the newspapers and mail, so now that I've done that, and raided the fridge (hehe!) I'm going to hang out by the pool and read. In Dune. Well ...it's not like they're paying me or anything.

Whitefluffy - your pics are wonderful! That lake might not be the most conventionally beautiful, but make no mistake, it is beautiful. Very striking and serene, and as good as your pics are I'm sure it was even better in person. And nothing enhances a situation like local fauna. I'm glad y'all had a nice time - thanks for sharing your photos!

Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan

    Thank you, gandhajala and Evangeline!

You are right, Evangeline, this place is very serene. That is when the wind doesn't blow at 70 mph .

Was decanting some Iris 39, and of course, some spillage occurred. Thus it shall be my SOTA.

That's a funny story, Evangeline. I do feel it's a rather glamorous scent - that little girl got it right.

Turquoise, I second everything Jon says about Impossible Iris -- I just love it. It's definitely tart and somehow suggests rubbery, in the way the petals of the really dark purple iris sometimes look. So different and really wonderful. Another round of thanks here to Foustie

The weather is supposed to get nasty again with thundersnow tonight and tomorrow but no accumulation expected. May 1st. Seriously.

SotE is YSL Cinema. Teardrop, I love this more and more with each wearing. Thanks for giving me the nudge!
