    Default How much is left?

Strange question, but in bottles that you can't see through, how do you know how much is left? I have 5 Montales, and they are all aluminum, and my GIT is not see through, and some of my Bond no 9's. I just kind of guess, but I know my GIT is getting near empty and I have no idea how much is left...What do you all do?

Some people have weighed empty bottles with ones that still contain fragrance to gauge the weight of what remains. Personally I simply wait until I can't spray anymore.

If perfume and water weigh about the same, and you know the the weight of the full or empty bottle, then it's possible find out how much is left:

    Example:

You put your used 50ml Montale bottle on the scale. Let's say it weigh 100 grams
A new one weigh 120 grams
You have 30 ml left :-)

    Pop the top.

Stick a straw or similar in.

If your skilled, you can tell by looking in from the top. Otherwise hold up the plastic gauge to the bottle and then measure height.

Keep in mind that Montales bottles are never filled to the brim , so you'll have to take that into account.

Right, many people complain that Montales 'feel empty' even when full, but the bottle is extremely light-weight, so almost all of the weight is the juice...It is more my GIT and Bn9's...Can't pop the top on them. Anyone out there willing to weigh a full or almost full GIT bottle and post it??? My bottle with unknown amount of juice is 278g

You can apparently hold GIT to a light to see through the bottle, but just tried mine and my bathroom light is clearly not bright enough.

I have checked my bottle GIT no problem with the flash on my smartphone set to torch mode (flashlight app), in a dim room.

The glass is actually really, really, really, really dark purple, not black...

Halogen spotlights usually do the trick for me You will find that your GIT bottle has an almost purple hue, when holding it in front of the spot Looks nice.

Put the GIT infront of a light and you will be able to see inside how much is left.

With the Montale, you can easily screw off/take off the sprayer to see the amount of juice left inside

Just use a flashlight. Most phones allow you to turn on the light.

Hold it up to the bottle.

    personally, i just shake it

the vibration from the juices hitting the internal wall of the bottles give me a roughly estimate of how much juices are left

I tried holding up my bottle of Silver Mountain Water to sunlight to see how much is left, no luck.

I figure I just keep using it until I can't use no more. Then would just buy another bottle.

You are making this too hard on yourselves. Put your bottles in the freezer for about 30 min to an hour and then take them out. Condensation will form on any part of the bottle which contains liquid in it, giving you the exact fill line. And no, putting them in the freezer will no cause any harm to the juice whatsoever. SCIENCE!!!

If it is low you can tell by any number of the hints above. Just buy another bottle. Sheesh...

Interesting. I was thinking that about my bottle of Himalaya. How much would I say was left if I had no easy way of checking...

    I might try FullCollapse's suggestion.

I haven't personally tried this. I just read it somewhere here before...

For metal bottles, what you can do is throw them in the fridge for about half an hour or so. Take them out, and the remaining liquid will start to condense, making the bottle sweat and leave a line about where the remaining juice sits.

    Pretty clever in my opinion.

Just with bottles. They all break (not literally).

I know the flashlight through the back trick works for GIT and SMW. Remember to pay attention to which way the sprayer bends so you know which way to tilt the bottle when it gets near the end.

Only one I can't see through is an older bottle of MI in the gold bottle. Oh, and I think VC&A Pour Homme's bottle is jet black and opaque.
