Default Frederic Malle - Carnal Flower Vs Portrait Of A Lady

I've heard great things about Frederic Malle and some of the brand's perfumes smell great. Carnal Flower and Portrait Of A Lady seem to stand out in particular. Which one do people prefer?

Geranium Pour Monsieur is my favorite from the line.

Both great, both tiptoe on the feminine side. Completely different fragrances.

PoaL is a beast and jumps off the skin and shouts. Carnal flower is softer and creamier. Both are feminine, but can be worn by a man. If you go very light on the trigger either one is a great one to wear. I like Carnal Flower slightly more if forced to pick.

Both are Ropion masterpieces that are easily worth owning, but I strongly prefer Portrait of a Lady of the two.

Between the two I prefer Portrait of a Lady, it's one of the best rose fragrances out there.

While I agree with dougzar, they both tiptoe on the feminine side, Portrait of a Lady is easily worn by Men without anyone thinking you are wearing a women's perfume.

Carnal Flower can be worn by Men, but I much prefer it when my GF wears it.

Own both and have worn both multiple times. If you like rose scents go for Portrait of a Lady and if you like your white florals (particularly tuberose) go for Carnal Flower.

To be honest I felt somewhat let down by Portrait of a Lady. By Kilian Rose Oud is of better quality imo.

Of the two I prefer POAL, Carnal Flower is a tuberose bomb and imo more suited for a woman. I'm with rex, GpM and MR are my favorites from this line.

I am with Diamondflame on POAL, it did not favorably impress me. Carnal Flower is a beautiful fragrance that I love to smell on a woman.

Carnal Flower is something special. POAL is a good scent but considering all the other well done rose scents available I don't think it stands out.

As others have said, PoaL is more masculine. It is a rose on a very modern woody ambery base. If you are used to more modern masculines and do not feel yet comfortable with florals, this one could be more approachable.

Carnal flower is a tuberose, extravagant, luscious - more stereotypically feminine but who cares.
