Default Time to play a little game...

A fragrance house has invited you to prune their portfolio of fragrances still in production.

What fragrance house would be your choice and what fragrances would get the axe?

    I'll start first...

    Andy Tauer

    Auburn
    White
    Orange Star
    Une Rose Vermeille
    Eau d'Épices

    Your turn...

Diptyque. I would destroy all their fragrances except Eau Lente, Tam Dao and L'Ombre Dans L'Eau. Then I would command them to begin developing new fragrances again from scratch.

  3. #3

Mugler and Angel Men will get the chop and the person who made it will be arrested and charged for crimes against humanity.

Davidoff would be halting production of Cool Water with immediate effect.

Dior. Chop Leather Oud (or at least chop that civet).

  6. #6

Default Re: Time to play a little game...

Mugler, I'd chop any fragrance that is packaged in those hideous star bottles... so that's the vast majority of the house gone.

  7. #7

Default Re: Time to play a little game...

Chanel, I'd chop Allure & all of the flankers.

  8. #8

Default Re: Time to play a little game...

Caron. I would destroy their entire line of perfumes and start again from scratch. Their perfumes do not smell classic. They smell OLD.

Paco Rabanne will bring back Metal and Tenere and not only discontinue 1 Million but also offer a generous buy back scheme for bottles that are already in circulation. The whole XS and Ultraviolet line will go too.

Yeah, and also some people are really harsh here. I mean destroy the whole house of Caron? I've been really impressed with almost all the Carons I've tried - any fragrance that makes ELdO's Eloge du Traitre smell derivative is something special.
And losing all my Penhaligons? Tomorrow feels like a BB day (soap, aftershave, frag) just to show that it is loved.

I do, however, think that Dior Homme Intense needs to get the chop....just to see the most beautiful-smelling riot mob in the world

I've got a huge bottle of this stuff and can see making my way through all of it. Glorious juice!

I like the premise of this thread. I would axe Nasomatto Nuda. Every other Nasomatto is really unique but Nuda is a monster jasmine note and................ well what else?

I just noticed this a couple days ago, but on the Luckyscent page for Nuda it says:

Note: Sadly, this fragrance is being discontinued. Only a limited supply remains.

It would mark the first discontinued Nasomatto, and a wise decision I think!

I would pick Serge Lutens and get rid of Santal Blanc, Un Bois Vanille, Nuit de Cellophane, Santal Majuscule, Arabie, and Jeux de Peau. Just because I don't like those.

Nnnnnoooooo! This game is turning into a vicious, massive, aimless mud fight.. And that's hilarious

    My turn:

NORNE.. Bye bye.. See you when you can get people outside of BN to actually like you.
GIT.. The overhyped, overrated, ugly synthetic mess that I'd use as a coal starter before putting it on my skin.
BDP.. Old Spice is gone and there is no need for a replacement.
All Montales and Lutens: remake them and get the incense out of them. Incense is just cheap and gives such an awful sinister feeling.
Creed OV, Creed Vetiver, and all other vetiver based scents: vetiver smells like my mom's cooking. I don't like smelling like an entrée.
A*Men: no need to give a reason on this one. Just axe it, please.

There! I feel a little exhausted, but in a good way

Actually, it would appear they are planning on cutting it from their line. I got the following from Gucci yesterday:

"Unfortunately, the item you have requested is currently unavailable for purchase online. At this time we are not informed if it will be included in future collections."

The item I was inquiring about was GPHII. Although it's still available in some department stores. I would expect to see this come off the shelves rather soon.

I would attack the house of Creed with a vengeance. First SMW GONE. then OV, Royal Water...ALL GONE. I would hold MI hostage until they spent a little more money to make the rest of their frags last 8hrs and until they hired someone for quality control.

The fragrance house of Hugo Boss would provide me with "enough room to prune", but I'd most likely and most eagerly prune the fragrance Hugo (1995) at first, even though I like or at least don't dislike most of its flankers and female versions/flankers/variations.

My favorite post of the week.

But screw it, I'll play: DESTROY ETAT LIBRE D'ORANGE! Can't make even ONE decent fragrance. Confuses crass, juvenile imagery with naughtiness or supposedly pushing the envelope. Releases unwearable fragrances and actually convinces gullible hipsters with money to burn that they're "conceptual works of olfactory art."

Well, I don't care how many Molecule and/or Escentric Iso-propil-metil-poopil juice would come out from the lab of Geza Schoen. But Kinski is the strongest candidate to be my new signature scent. I reckon this IS a rather selective omission - everything but one
