    Default Holy Grail

I've seen others mention it...searching for that 'Holy Grail' of fragrances. I don't do it consciously, but in the back of my mind there is always the idea that somewhere out there is the one fragrance that will be perfect for me. I know many of you have said that you don't think that way...but any one else on the quest for the Holy Grail? I almost found it with Mona di Orio Vetyver, with Amouage Tribute, but not quite.

Houbigant Ambergris is my holy grail. There has never been another like it.

Not crazy about the moniker, but for me perhaps Gengis Khan.

Don't buy into it. I could name quite a few that are 'perfect' for me at any given time.

The problem with expanding your knowledge of fragrances and being able to pick out notes as your nose matures is you end up finding slight flaws in even your all-time favorite fragrances. I doubt I'll ever find a "holy grail" fragrance, but I'm perfectly content with the excitement I get from searching.

RIGHT...This is what I mean...I don't believe I will ever find that Perfect fragrance...even when I come close, I still think a better one is around the corner

Despite the fact that the Basenotes consensus has historically been Patou Pour Homme, I keep coming back to Aramis Havana.

I think it is possible for a person to find a scent that is just perfect for them regardless of hype or others opinions, but I have yet to find it. I have many fragrances that I absolutely love, and some may come close (Sova, MR, etc), none are really "perfect for me."

Same here. There are so many perfumes that I thoroughly enjoy and so many different genres available to all of us, which makes our hobby that much better.

If I were to choose one, it would be CDG 2 Man and or Gucci pour Homme. I find both mesmerizing, totally other worldly. Both take me away to a better place. Although I enjoy other fragrances I have very much, these two have risen above the rest.

My mom's great. I appreciate her sense of humor, patience and fondness for daytime drinking. :0)

I can only think of one fragrance that I could call that just by the smell and that is Vintage Amouage Homage. Sublime stuff!

I'm not into religion or holy grails. New desires are born and expand all the time.

Patou pour Homme is excellent, but there are a lot of good ones.

This happens to me. Notes I hate I keep finding in frags I love. Frags I love become meh, and frags I disliked become hmm.
