Default Dior Homme Vintage vs. Reformulation

I know there are a few threads on this, but I would like some other opinions about this subject. How does the silage and longevity differ. Does it smell a lot different? Would the average nose be able to tell the difference? I personally like the iris at the top, how much different is that?

I guess that would depend on how acute one's sense of smell is.

I own both. The biggest difference is the color of the straw inside the bottle. Both smell like lipstick/makeup and drydown to a nice cocoa and lipstick smell. Both last about the same amount of time. Don't buy into the old vs new formula hype and just buy whichever you can find. If you find the silver collar version for a good price then get it. If you can't, get the new stuff. If you like the iris note, then you'll like the new version. Will the average nose be able to tell them apart? The average nose can't tell GIT and Cool Water apart, so I think it's safe to say no they won't be able to tell them apart.

I'd disagree with mesaboogie and say that if you like iris, then definitely go for vintage since iris is more pronounced there. Fortunately Dior homme vintage isn't as rare as Dior homme intense vintage so you should still be able to find at good price. Iris on the reformulation is more citrusy to my nose where it is very distinct in the vintage. I get same longevity with both but projection is much better with vintage maybe due to the iris being more distinct

I could be crazy but I feel like the reformulated one lasts longer than the original by a long shot

I somewhat agree with this. I went sniffing this weekend and smelled the reformulated version at one of the local sephoras. Comparing it to the vintage there is a significant difference in smell but not at all in a bad way(subjective of course). To me the reformulated version smells much closer to the vintage DHI than the original. The iris is much more pronounced in the original as well as one of the previous posters mentioned. I personally prefer the original but owning the vintage for both DH and DHI, I can see the appeal.
