Default Under the Radar Animalic Gems

Im interested in investigating some different animalic frags that are not the typical Kouros, Jicky, or MKK. I am a huge fan of all three of those, but just looking for something new to me and a little more under the radar. I am also a huge fan of cumin/caraway heavy fragrances such as APLS by MFK and Nejma One by P. Morabito.

Thanks in advance, looking forward to hear everyones suggestions!

It's not really under the radar, but it definitely deserves more play around here: M/Mink by Byredo.

Despite some heavy expenses coming up (vacation) I will own a bottle of this within the year, mark my words.

Try to get an older bottle of Eau d'Hermès, if this is your style.

I smelled Al Oudh the other day: it's an animal, all right! Definitely on my want list.

One Man Show (vintage is better), Salvador Dali Pour Homme, and vintage Leonard Pour Homme have clear castoreum. Then there is Tenere and Boss Cologne/#1 for a urinous honey type of thing and of course Ungaro II with civet. For a "cheapo" there is Vermeil, which is tobacco and citrus with very strong musky animalic elements.

Dior's Leather Oud is the modern king of the animalic pile (no pun intended) IMO.

PG's L'Ombre Fauve and MFK's Absolue pour le Soir are two of my favorites (although the latter is relying on the cumin part you dislike).

if you can find it... the old "Monsieur de Lanvin" (red box). Never smelt animalic vibes so heavy .
Ex aequo: the old version of "Moustache" de Rochas.

    In second place: Ungaro II
third place: Antaeus by Chanel (vintage only!)
honorable mention : Caractère, by Daniel Hechter.

but there are many, many others...

For cumin, I second Eau d'Hermes (apparently, the current version, which I have and like, is more cumin-y and less musky, but I cannot verify), and al oudh. For musky-dirty, Rien by Etat Libre d'Orange.

These are two of my favorites as well.

OP, if you haven't got the chance, I would highly recommend you try these:

    Parfum d'Empire Musc Tonkin
    Guerlain Songe d'un Bois d'Ete

Also, no one mentions this as animalic, but to me, FM Bigarade Concentree has a note (cumin?) that makes it smell like human skin warmed by the sun.

Hahahaha that's a very interesting image (in hi-res dpi, natch).

I didn't get the ink note that people report in the times I've tried it, but I'll keep a nostril out next time I do.

It stays close to the skin but Tom Ford's Purple Patchouli has an underlying fecal note.

I 2nd the MFK, my favourite fragrance at the moment. I don't understand how so ugly can be so beautiful. Almost not safe for work.
