Alpha by House of Matriarch might work
First post here and this site totally pwns. I'm looking for recommendations to find a fragrance that's resemblant of Henri Bendel's Firewood candles, which are often described (mostly by women) as the epitome of man, or man in a can. To me the fragrance definitely has some leathery undertones, a velvety smoke, dark, alluring, mysterious, and definitely masculine...perhaps with a bit of cypress. I recently found out about Gucci Pour Homme which sounded interesting on this site, but unfortunately it's discontinued. Right now I'm stuck with my staples Fahrenheit, the L'Occitane line, and trying to break out into some new scents. Any recommendations?
Also, I should note that I despise ANY citrus notes in a fragrance unless it comes together in a package that is un-citrusy. Winter and fall fragrance smell masculine and seductive and to me, citrus notes just smell like a "sporty" girls perfume in a package inappropriately labelled "homme". "Sporty" fragrances belong with a Nickelback and Hootie and the Blowfish album collection, that is, not to be used outside of instances of absolute self-loathing, self-flagellation and perhaps on a piece of legislation outlawing the ownership or production of them.

Lalique Encre Noire - Dry vetiver with the smoke upfront woody undertones
Comme des Garcons 2 Man - Wood/Smoke/Incense (my favorite scent currently)
Comme des Garcons Wonderwood - Dry Firewood

+1 to Encre Noir.
My favorite woody fragrance is Creed's Spice & Wood (although it has a slightly fruity apple dry down, but the cedar is there start to finish). Others you can try include:
Hermes Rocabar (incense and wood)
Porfomum Thundra (forest floor and smoke)
Slumberhouse Norne (forest fire aftermath)
Jo Malone 154 (piney)
Bond No. 9 Brooklyn (piney)
Quick replies. Thank you all. Anyone else?
Looks like I'll be spending an hour or two at a local shop.
Depending on your budget - Chanel Sycomore...but if you're on a budget do be sure to check out Encre Noire.
+3 on Lalique's Encre Noir.
+2 on Comme des Garcons' 2 MAN.
These two might be too sweet, but there's also:
Michael Kors Michael
Worth a sniff, anyway.
EDIT: I forgot about Tauer's Incense Extreme. Yes, there's some incense in there, but to me the biggest smell is a sense of a campfire after the fire's gone out. The actual charred pit. Stuff's not cheap, tho', and not available in a whole lot of places.
Bois d'ascese by Naomi Goodsir
Lonestar Memories or Mona di Orio's Cuir? Patchouli 24? I've only smelled these on paper but they are massive, unsubtle smoke up front (in a good way), and the first two have the leather as well. About as far from Hootie and the Blowfish as you can get.
patchouli 24 and bois d'ascese
look for these before anything else.
Encre Noir added to my add to collection list after looking it up on Basenotes.
Comme des Garcons 2 Man I've seen as comparable to Gucci Pour Homme, but does it have an angry citrus attack to it when first sprayed? Some people seem to think so, others not at all. I personally have never tried it.
The rest on the to try list. Thanks again everyone.

Amouage Interlude Man. My wife said its what she pictures the inside of a chimney smells like.
I don't get the citrus blast at all with 2 Man. I guess I could see how some might see a faint lemon, but only within the incense, not as a note itself. And most definitely not strong or angry. I think the two, GPHI and 2 Man share a brief similarity but that's about it. I find 2 Man much more complex and more smoky, which I enjoy. Either way, give it a try if you get a chance. I don't think you'll find this to be a citrus blast as you would expect from the standard department store citrus/pepper/woods fragrances.
With Slumberhouse's Norne, you will smell like the best possible version of a lumberjack... just in case it's unclear, that was a positive recommendation.
on the designer side burberry london is great. also similiar is the dreamer by versace and D&G POUR HOMME.a bit more pricier would be the CDG incense line.
Jeke from Slumberhouse!!
Norne smells more like live trees versus Jeke which smells of firewood.
Another vote for Encre Noire.
Annick Goutal Encens Flamboyant.

+1 for Tauer's Lonestar Memories. Powerfully masculine campfire and leather combo. Good stuff.
