Some extremely eminent members are available to answer questions, but please bear in mind that their time is sometimes limited and your question, or one very similar, may have been answered before in detail.
It will increase your understanding if you try to do some research using the search function, although specific questions are always treated with understanding and respect by a number of experts.
This is a complex subject and the information contained here is valuable and has taken too much effort to ignore.
So please enjoy your visit and feel free to return with your questions.

Very good. I, for one, would have little idea how to go about finding if my question had already been answered. I know about the stickies which help with the basic stuff, but don't know about the search function; I'm an absolute Luddite when it comes to computers.
O.K., thanks for the feedback guys, will edit it & maybe we could have it in the top somewhere unmissable
My feeling is that if people are genuinely prepared and able to learn, they will appreciate reading around the subject.
And with the mobile platform, it could be a help to users if a place can be found for it?
Please let me know anything that's been missed - will add links to your blogs too.

If people put in something like 'DIY Ambergis' it will list all relevant threads very clearly.
It would also help to avoid asking people to do a Google search in many instances.
Another sticky thread idea might be one linking to some of the better sources of info & stuff like perfumesearch.com - suggestions welcome here pls.
And some of the stickies might benefit from some tidying, but not today

ha! that's much better. i've been recommending people to use google (site:basenotes.net) instead of the internal search for years. the old site search was dysfunctional, and i'm glad something has been done about it!
by the way, did everyone see this? http://www.basenotes.net/threads/366...a-new-platform
Yes, gido, this is to try to utilise the existing new site layout with a view to improving access to the wealth of info. already available - sending people off to Google is really not ideal as they leave the site and might not return.
New site search is excellent atm. & very clear.
Agree, Hedonist - needs to be easily available.
I must be missing something but to which search engine are you referring?
I don't see any improvement there?
It's on the new test platform, not the current site, Irina.
And where is the test platform located...
Can you provide us a link to the new search engine?
@jsparia - please see link given in gido's post #6.
BTW - Not sure if this idea is going to work on the mobile site as yet, but at least the info. should be available on the main site for replies.
Sorry - U have to ask Grant for a link.
